Meanwhile, Carla had gotten a change of clothes and was lounging on the Whyte leather sofa in her study room while talking on the phone.
She had found out all about Solara's news and knew how fatal the consequences could be for Giblo Group if the situation continued to worsen.
She then gave Daemon a call and was able to get through rather quickly.
"Hey, Daemon…"
"Are you home?" Daemon's tone was as cold as ice.
Looks like he knew about me staying over at the Giblo residence… In that case, he probably also knows what happened to me. I'm guessing that's why he got mad and did all this to avenge me! Carla thought to herself as she glanced at Freda.
Regardless, she still felt the need to explain herself. "Yeah, I'm home. Venus was very ill due to the poison, so I got worried and…"
Daemon cut her off coldly. "You could just bring the child back for treatment if you're that worried. The Giblo family isn't the only one with private doctors, you know?"
"Right…" Unlike most other sisters who would argue or behave coquettishly with their brothers, all Carla showed was admiration, respect, and obedience toward Daemon.
Besides, it was pointless for her to explain any further since he already knew about her going there.
"Even if you're there to look after your child, you shouldn't let others bully you. There wasn't much you could do about it back then, but you're a Lierger now! You're my sister, and you shouldn't let anyone treat you like that!"
Daemon felt his blood boil at the thought of Carla being humiliated and bullied by Jombo.
Carla felt touched when she heard the anger in his voice.
So this is how it feels like to have your family stand up for you… I used to be all by myself and could only tolerate or avoid those who walked all over me, but things are different now! I have my cousin brother who will protect and avenge me! I will never forget how Jombo trusted Selena and had his bodyguards pin me down so they could put me in shackles… I chose not to take my revenge on him because of the kids, but Daemon won't do the same. Everything he's doing right now is payback for the humiliation the Giblo family has put me through!
"Do not forget the pain you felt simply because the wound has healed. Do not forget how the Giblos have hurt you, how Shelley humiliated you in Coldbridge, how Mrs. Borah died, and how your wedding gown was stained red with blood! Remember the purpose of your return, Carla! You're back to avenge yourself and Mrs. Borah! Don't let Zayn's sweet words deceive you! We Liergers are not spineless cowards!" Daemon shouted angrily and hung up immediately after, leaving Carla with conflicted feelings.
Of course, I haven't forgotten about my hatred for them! I've been searching for Solara and Shelley to get my revenge, but I just can't bring myself to hurt Jombo and Zayn because of how much my kids love them! I don't even wish for what Daemon did to happen!
"I'm sorry, Ms. Lierger… I got really mad when I heard from Jewel about you being bullied at the Giblo residence. On top of that, your condition has relapsed, and you were short on your medication. I got worried about your safety, so I gave Mr. Lierger a call. I didn't think he would blow things out of proportion like this just to avenge you. I'm really sorry…" Freda apologized softly.
Benard would probably blame me for what happened if he knew about me telling on them. He told me a lot about Zayn and Carla when we were tracking Shelley down, and I found myself wavering after hearing the stuff he said. But then, I got all worked up when I came back and found out that Carla was bullied, and I made that phone call…
Freda felt incredibly uneasy at the thought of that.
