After mom finished speaking, she touched my shoulder and said: "We would go see them later. I and your dad had to go as quick as possible, cause they had no one else to help them with the hospital bills. Dad's currently getting ready for work, he's been complaining about how late he is. However, when he comes back from work, we would all go!"
On hearing this, I could help but think about Jimmy. I wondered how he was going to feel experiencing these tragic events, one after the other.
Mom stood up and added: "Hurry up and get dress. We are going to the salon."
As soon as I heard this, I was so excited. It felt like everything I just went through in the last couple of minutes was compensated for.
"Okay mom!", I said enthusiastically.
Mom walked out of the room as I watched her with an unbreakable smile on my face.
"Oh, and clean up this mess!", she said looked at the littered dirt with irritation.
As soon as she shut the door, I realized that the door knob was not on the door.
On seeing this, my heart skipped several beats.
I looked at the dirt mom was refering to and realized that some had soaked up water.
What the f_ck! It wasn't a dream, I wasn't imagining things.
All that happened just now was real.
The thought of this was driving me crazy once again.
Just as I thought of this in fear.
I heard a familiar song playing in the hallway.
It was the same song I was tortured by, the "Row, row, row your boat!"
Hearing it got me a bit scared, but I had to clear my doubts about his ghost thing once and for all.
So I summoned up the courage and quickly rushed to the door, picked up the knob and fitted it in; with a twist, it opened.
I rushed out of my room, and heard a light bang on Kareen's door as the music disappeared.
It was Kareen! This child doesn't know when to stop playing!
I walked to her room door, and opened it without knocking once again.
On entering her room, I discovered that the song had been changed to something totaly different. A song with just evil chants and wails.
"I know it was you!", I said bluntly to her.
"What's me?", she asked looking at up at me.
"You were the one who pranked me this morning, broke my tap, locked my windows and doors, and worse of all, messing with my phone and playing that annoying song!", I said aloud pointing at her phone.
She looked at me and for afew seconds no word was uttered. Suddenly, she began to laugh.
On seeing her laugh, I grew more angry and asked: "What's so funny?"
"Can you listen to yourself? You badge into my room with a towel and acuse me of breaking your tap! Shutting your windows and doors", she said and laughed some more.
"Messing with your phone!", she laughed harder.
Visible lines of anger surged up on my forehead and I shouted: "Shut up! If you don't stop laughing, I'll slap your face!"
"Come on big sis, you and I know that I haven't touched your phone since you got it. But I am certain that your phone's password is something so long and unguessable by anyone but you. So how on earth am I supposed to open your phone and send you my songs?", Kareen asked.
I stared at her and was speechless.
"Break your tap? Why on earth would I want to do that?", she said with a weird expression on her face, like one who was thiking.
"I don't know, maybe too prank me into thinking there's a ghost!", I said aloud.
"Why won't you just believe me!", she said aloud.
"After all the times you've lied to me when we were little, I'll never believe you!", I said as I snatched her phone from her hand.
"Give it back!", she said as she walked up to me.
I kicked her back and she fell on her butt to the ground.
Her phone was unlocked so it was easy for me to access.
The first application my eyes saw was a voice changer.
"I knew it!", I said and quickly opened it.
"Please don't!", she said with tears in her eyes.
"What shouldn't I do?", I asked looking at her feeling like I just solved a mystery. I was a bit excited.
"Even though she's a jerk, she's still my sister!", she pleaded.
"Who are you talking to?", I asked still looking at her phone, using the voice changing application and trying out different voices insearch of the one she used to scare me in my room.
Suddenly, a strange wind blew into the room from her window.
"What are you doing now?", I asked glancing at her for a short while and then back at her phone.
Suddenly, my towel was pulled out of my body, flying out the window.
My face immediately went red as a smile gradually grew on Kareen's face.
"Mom!!!", I cried out as I let go of her phone and covered my body with my hands.
I quickly cried in shame out of the room.
"What's the problem?", I heard mom say as she ran out of her room, but didn't stick around to listen to her.
I shut my door and went to get dressed.
After hurriedly wearing my undies, I went for a jean.
I am so going to kill this girl!
After getting dressed with a jean and a black tank top, my room door opened and mom walked in holding Kareen who was still laughing by her hand.
"What's the matter Katie?"
"You....", I said pointing at Kareen who's laughter became alot more outrageous.
I rushed towards her as she hid behind mom.
"Get out of there you animal!", I said trying to get her.
Mom just stood there surprised as we ran around her.
"Girls!", she yelled but we continued running around her.
"Mom, Katie called me an animal, but she's the one who has an entire forest, a kingdom infact!", she said mockingly.
"You!!", I said now more eager to catch her and kill her.
"What are you girls talking about?", mom asked still tryint to figure out what was going on.
"Don't you dare say another word!", I said with a stern look as I stopped running.
"I dare!", she said looking back at me in a similar but mocking manner, held her waist and then said: "Mom, ask Katie when last she shaved!"
