We turned in direction from which the words came and saw April walking towards us.
"I did it!", She repeated.
What?!
Why did she take the blame? Is she out of her mind.
I turned to Mrs. Ping who at the time appeared shocked to her bones.
"You.... Ho...w? Why?", She said about to break down.
April continued shortening the distance between ourselves.
"Is this true?", She asked me.
I kept quiet for a while looking at her and then at April.
She probably has a plan.
As for me, other than blaming some random made-up zombie, I had nothing else.
So I said alittle hesitantly: "..she did...."
"But I never expected her to come forward." I added lightly.
"Why?!", She added about to shed tears.
April went down on her knees, bowing her head slightly and then spoke: "I swear, it wasn't intentional. While wrestling with a zombie I accidentally stabbed him. While he was dying, he told us about you and your pregnancy and asked us to get you to save Derick so the forth can be saved, that was his last requests."
After speaking, she bowed her head more and said: "you can do what ever you want to me, but please honour the commander's last requests."
Wow!
What's this girl made off.
So courageous and somewhat smart, she's definitely for keeps.
Taking the blame for Derick for his safety and for Mrs. Ping to go through with it, as well as using 'the subcommander's last request' to hook Mrs. Ping up.
Mrs. Ping immediately broke down in tears, "why you?!"
She cried bitterly.
On seeing this, I couldn't help but feel like April had something else up her sleeves, and so was more shocked.
"My life and the life of my son is owed to you!", She further cried.
"I told you Mrs. Ping, that's nothing. We are all in this together, you probably would have saved my life if the tables had turned.", April added.
April's a genius! She knew about this all along.
And she knows that Mrs. Ping up holds her words and so took advantage of that as well.
"My husband always says the earth turns in one direction no matter what. What's going to be will be no matter what, the tables won't turn unless it's in the earth's directional plan.", She added with a tearful expression.
"I really wish I could be as Noble as you are, if it were me, I'll take my life.", She further added.
It's clear she's just trying to squeeze some more juice from her, praising her nobility so she would think about her husband, and that will naturally trigger her husband's last request.
Mrs. Ping kept quiet for awhile, stood up wiping her tears and said: "My life and that of my son's does not equal that of my husband in my eyes, his is greater than but our lives combined."
Hearing this, I felt as though the world had began to soon backwards.
Is this woman insane?
Does that mean, April just dug her grave with the same shovel she used to cover up someone else's?
"But 5-4 equals 1 which is not as great as the initial 5. What I'm trying to say is you won't go unpunished but the punishment won't be the initial death!", She explained.
Hearing this, heaved a sigh of relief.
"But first, my husband's last request must be honored.", She said as she brought forth a strand of hair as she gave it to me.
"What's this?", I asked.
"A strand of Cerberus's fur.", She replied.
"Cerberus?", I asked bewildered.
"Haides's multiple headed dog. There's no need for further explanation, just put this in the potion, it's going to dissolve, use that!", She said.
As expected, she hid this till we heard the truth or at least what she thinks it is.
I immediately put in the potion she gave me and as he said, it dissolved.
On dissolving the entire potion turned thick black, but for some reason felt like blood.
"What about the dark knife?", I asked Mrs. Ping.
"The last person I saw wielding the dark weapon was the commander.", She replied.
"Here!", Davis hurriedly interposed stretching forth the dark knife used to stab Derick earlier.
"I kinda stole it for future use... He he!", He said.
I took the knife without an expression even though I felt somewhat relieved that we don't have to look for the dumb Commander, who has probably been killed like the rest of the dumb beings, and turned to Mrs. Ping.
"Alright!", I said to her and turned back to Davis and said: "Let's go!", I said about to hurry out to look for Derick, when the door opened abruptly.
Suddenly some screamed flying in.
We turned to the person.
"Commander!", The guards exclaimed seeing the badly beaten commander.
"De... De... ", Before he completed his sentence he fainted.
As soon as he passed out the light rays coming from the was slowly obstructed.
Looking forward, we saw Derick as he walked in.
"There's more here...", He said as he walked in.
He must have detected the last three zombies.
Before anyone could make a move, there was a flash and the figure at the door was no more.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
We heard, from inside the cell.
We quickly turned to see.
The three zombie's heads were smashed to dust.
After a short while, he stepped out of the cell, looked around and was about to step out when I held his hand and called: "Derick!"
After speaking, he turned his face slowly to me.
At this time, the balm wrapped around his face was almost completely gone.
Just around his forehead and a part of his ears still had the balm.
He looked at me with his dark eyes.
Seeing his eyes and reaction to my voice, I could tell he was fighting with this.
He could still hear his name, and still somewhat recognizes me.
Seeing this, tears rolled down my cheeks.
I closed my eyes, tip toed pulling his arm with one of mine and locking lips with him.
As soon as our lips came in contact, I could suddenly feel him breathing slowly.
With my other hand, I took out the dark knife I had secretly rubbed in the potion and stabbed him directly in the chest.
