The Axel Group's announcements put the entire Hillsprings in shock.
Acknowledging that there was a change in the ownership of the Axel Group, the Bromwick family were curious about the White family's kick out from the Axel Group.
Seemingly the new owner, saw the White family as low class, and wasn't up to the Axel Group's standard.
But the question remained, who is Mr. Arthur? One so rich bought the Axel Group worthing 100's of billions without breaking a sweat. Even the richest man in the Hillsprings can't do that.
And just like that, so many wealthy families wanted to establish friendship with the mysterious Mr. Arthur. They wished he could get married to their daughters.
And also the announcement stated that, the Axel Group was going to invest the sum of 2billion dollars in a hotel. This greatly shook the construction and decoration companies in the Hillsprings.
2 billion dollars! Just partaking in a little segment of the project, one can make quite a lot of money!
So many companies all over Hillsprings, wanted to partake in this bountiful project. Old Mrs. Bromwick who so much loves money was not exempted.
Mrs. Bromwick was really happy, what an amazing opportunity for a 2 billion dollar contract.
If the Bromwick family could acquire such a contract, it will sky rocket them to the next level. She quickly called for a family meeting, one which all the members of the Bromwick family must attend.
At night, they all gathered, Chris included. He knew, that Mrs. Bromwick held the meeting to discuss the Axel Group's contract. So he siezed the opportunity to make his wife look good before her family.
On seeing Chris, Aaron, Nora's cousin sneered, "D_mn! Chris, where did you get the courage to even show your face before grandma again?", Aaron mocked.
"Stop talking trash, Aaron. Grandma requested for all members of the Bromwick family, and I am married to Chris,that makes him family!", She replied coldly.
Aaron laughed, "is he really a member of the Bromwick? Oh please! He is nothing but a live-in son-in-law!", He added.
Chris rubbed his nose and turned to clear, "Nora dear, just leave him, don't bother arguing, let's go in, grandma awaits everyone", he said and Nora nodded and ignored Aaron as they walked in.
On seeing this, Aaron became cold, he began to hope for something that will lead to their embarrassment.
On entering, Chris and Nora found a spot to sit, just by the corner.
In no time, Mrs. Bromwick appeared before them and the meeting started.
They sat round the table, With Mrs. Bromwick sitting at the head. Mrs. Bromwick struck the table with her hand to get the attention of her family members.
"We have been waiting for an opportunity, one which can put us up among the richest in the Hillsprings, and finally, that opportunity has presented itself!", She said with vigor.
"The Axel Group has presented a 2 billion dollar contract, and any who acquires it will greatly benefit from it", Mrs. Bromwick said.
"And this project is the first the Axel Group has done since change of ownership. Indeed it is a good opportunity for the Bromwick family! If we can get this contract, and impress the new chairman, the future of the Bromwick will be golden!", She added.
Even though the old Mrs. Bromwick spoke with power and vigor, the family members were not so moved by her words.
Besides, this wasn't the first attempt of the Bromwick family to collaborate with the Axel Group. The Axel Group has always ignored them, so what makes now any different, especially since it was a contract of this magnitude. Simply impossible.
On seeing her family member's reaction, Mrs. Bromwick grew angry, "Why the silence? Are you all dumb? You lack the confidence to take part in even a tiny part of the project.
They looked at themselves but said nothing.
Mrs. Bromwick grew more angry, and gnashed her teeth, "I will say it now and here, who ever can make up to 30 million dollars from collaborating with Axel group will become the director of our company!", She added.
As soon they heard this, they became mesmerized.
Mrs. Bromwick had always ruled the company all by herself, she saw no reason to appoint a director, especially since one in such a position will wield great power, and so it will best such position be given to the successor of the company.
Mrs. Bromwick decided to use the position to entice her family members. She hopes for a competition, that one will be brave enough to fight for it. It was clearly seen that she really wanted to collaborate with Axel Group.
Truly the position was enticing, but the task set to acuire it was a big one. Before the Bromwick family, to get a contract worth 30 million dollars with the Axel Group, sounded like a big joke. Even if Mrs. Bromwick went herself, those in charge won't even see her, how much more talk about a collaboration.
The conference room became quiet, and Mrs. Bromwick was provoked by this, "you are all members of the Bromwick family, can't you help promote the family's standard!", Mrs. Bromwick asked angered.
She suddenly turned to Aaron, "Aaron! I'll leave you with this job!", She said.
Benjamin chuckled, "but Grandma, even Linda's fiancé's family, the White's, were kicked out of the Axel Group", he said.
"What Rubbish! You underestimate yourself even before attempting! You are a much bigger loser compared to Chris.
The truth of the matter was, even Mrs. Bromwick was not confident either, she was just sick of heading a family which always ends up being in the second class or third, she wanted to elevate her family's standard.
She expected Aaron, her eldest grandson, to willingly take up the task. But he withdrew quickly.
Aaron felt bad. But who would take such a task? He was scared if getting kicked out of Axel Group. He knew for a fact that he was going to fail and that will lead to him being insulted and made jest of. These are the reasons he would dare take up the challenge.
After trash talking Aaron, who ramained quiet, Mrs. Bromwick looked around, "what about you guys, can't you take up the task?", She asked.
Chris quickly but lightly touched Nora using his elbow, "sweetie, take up this task", he said.
Nora nodded no immediately, "It's too crazy! It's obvious we can't get this contract. The Bromwick family is too small to be acknowledged by the Axel group", she explained.
Chris gave a gentle smile, "don't worry dear, I know you'll get it!", He said to her confidently.
"Are you serious?", Nora asked surprised.
"Absolutely! I believe in you, you have no problems securing this! Sieze this opportunity, you got this. If you do, the Bromwick family's status will be risen sky high", he said to her.
For some reason not known to Nora, she developed a strong believe in Chris's words. She stood up as though she was hypnotized, "Grandma, I will give it a shot", she said as all eyes became fixated on her.
