Just as the thought came up, I heard a zombie growl from behind.
"Sub commander!", April said aloud.
"Sh_t!", I exclaimed as I pulled April.
While crouching, I already had a plan to give them a diversion to get them distracted while I and April ran in; but who would have thought that we ourselves will be the distraction for some others who had been hiding to run in.
Just as I felt like a scape goat, I heard screams from near the door.
While running, I turned back to see.
Several zombies had ambushed them.
I couldn't help but wonder: Where did those zombies come from? Would that have been us?
Sometimes being a scape goat has it's perks. You never know, you might end up in a better place.....
"Or worse?", I spoke out seeing the multitude coming from our front. Turning back now is also useless, we were also runnning from some. Another Ambush.
Still stuck in between this, I heard some screams.
"What now?", I said as I turned to the direction of the screams.
The zombies had succesfully pulled down the gate and had began to devour the gate keeper.
Meanwhile, I and April were still in between this herd of monsters, with absolutely no where to run to.
"What are we going to do Ms. Xender?", April asked as she looked around panicking.
I looked around terribly confused at the time.
On one hand there was me and these countless number of brainless goons, on the other was the helpless settlers trying to drive these monsters with sticks and knife.
None could I help.
Suddenly, we heard a thud on the ground so great we could feel the earth shake.
All who heard turned to the direction of the loud bang.
And there he was, the soul-less Derick, holding his hand a huge axe seemingly gotten from the zombie's troop leader.
Before we could grasp waht was happening, he had swung twice, and in those swings, almost 50 of these monsters lost their lives.
The scene was incredible. Such strength was absolutely inhuman.
In seconds, the attention of all the zombies and some humans even, was bought by Derick's outrageous actions.
Due to this, there was a window of opportunity to escape, I quickly grabbed April's arm and ran some distance away from them.
After about a minute or two, he had killed almost all the zombies in the place, sadly with some unfortunate humans who were in the way. Though not directly, but none chalantly.
Now all the zombies outside had been killed by Derick, but it was obvious that some zombies had made their way inside the safe house.
Derick at this time had turned to the direction of the sound.
"F_ck!", I muttered.
If Derick should go in, with his none chalant attitude towards human life, it will definitely be a disaster.
Just as I thought about that, April said: "Ms. Xender, Derick's about to go in. At the rate at which he kills, there would be several casualties in the building."
"I think we should create another hole for the people inside to escape!", I said looking at the walls of the safe house.
"What about the zombies, wouldn't they escape as well?!", she asked.
"The zombies are brainless, once they someone attacking their own, they don't do not put the opponent's strength into consideration, and would begin to attack no matter how many zombies is lost. No matter what happens, even though it comes down to one, that one would still fight to the death." I explained.
"So what do we do Ms. Xender?!", she asked.
Just as I stood there confused, the dumb commander ran down with the black sword, sweating profusely.
"Where's he?", the commander asked panting and looking everywhere like one looking for a green snake in a green grass.
April looked at him with a somewhat shocked expression, pointed at the safe house and said:"there!"
After her words, the commander looked at the direction she was pointing to.
Screams and so many loud bangs were heard from the place. People ran out in horror, some even had severe injuries.
Seeing this, the commander stood there speechlessly with the sword in his hand, obviously very reluctant to go.
This guy is just a stupid coward looking for face, let me give him a little boost and see what he does.
"Commander, aren't you going?", I asked.
"... Yeah, right! Yeah!", he said held the sword tighter, yelled for a few seconds stomping his feet on one spot, and then finally ran towards the safe house.
Seeing the Commander running towards the safe house with Mr. Ping's black sword, I couldn't help but nod my head.
His life is worthless anyways, his existence would only cause more stupid occurrence.
Truth be told, there's only one person's life that really matters to me right now, Mrs. Ping.
Even though I wish all the settlers can survive, only her person's survival will bring about the survival of many others.
The real truth and wish buried deep in my heart is Derick's safety and restoration. Sadly, I could literally exchange the entire village for his life.
Yes! The entire village's life is not worth Derick's.
Still wondering when I became this way. Xender who never looked at others in her eyes suddenly became so obsessed with a human, so much so living seems meaningless without him.
This feeling doesn't just add up, and yet can't be controlled.
Shortly after dad ran in with the sword, I heard a familiar voice yelling a familiar name.
My eyes widened when I saw Mrs. Ping running out and yelling: "Ping! Ping!"
I quickly rushed to where she was while other settlers trooped out of the safe house.
In seconds the safe house was punctured with holes repeatedly as several zombies were thrown out, flying several feets into the air.
"Where's my husband? Why is the Commander holding sword?", Mrs. Ping who was now in my front lamented in front of me.
"He's... He's....", I could'nt complete my sentence.
She must have already guessed it. And besides, if I do tell her, she would ask so many questions, as well as the cause of her husband's death. If she's given that information, she might not want to help Derick.
Thinking of this, I decided to change the topic and say Instead: "for our sake, we have to get Derick cured. His loyalty is very essential for the fort and settler's safety."
"What are you saying? My husband is dead and you are talking about the safety of the settlers. What's my business if you all die?!", She said in pain, turned to the safe house and was about to run when I pulled her back and said: "what about your child? The blood and name of your beloved husband... Are you going to throw it all away? What are you going to tell him when you meet him?"
From her hand, I could feel that the words penetrated, she stopped struggling.
"I have the 3 live zombies your husband requested for!", I added.
"We have to hurry before the situation escalates.", April on the side pressured.
With tears in her eyes, she looked at me and asked: "Where are they?"
To be continued......
