She walked closer and I remained speechless.
In an instant, I could feel all my senses go numb as she shortened the distance between us. Her blonde long and braided hair, her strange but really attractive eyes of brown like red...
"Caleb...", she said boldly standing in front of me without a sense of female shyness whatsoever, her heart beat, perfectly normal; her talking pace, absolutely fine.
"Yes?", I replied unable to look away, but trying so not to give off any body language that showed that I was nervous.
"Thank you, thank you for saving my life", she said with a smile.
Her white teeth was closely packed, there was almost no space in between each, her lips, pink and plumb, with a slight depression in between the lower lip.
"You are welcome", I replied now noticing the red spots on her face, obviously from the beat down those boys gave to her.
Right then and there, I felt like making them have an accident over again.
This made me hate Mariam even more.
As soon as my voice fell, Jane walked in with her hand on her head.
"Jane!", Her mom who had been looking at I and the cute blonde talk, seemingly still waiting for a reply from me called as she rushed towards her.
"Are you okay?!", she asked in a panick.
I and the cute blonde looked at them as Jane's mom helped her on the chair.
"I am fine mom, just feeling a little dizzy!", Jane replied.
"Did you hit your head some where?", the cue girl asked Jane as she walked towards them leaving me to stand there on my own.
"I am not sure... my head's just hurts ab....", Jane said and paused.
"Aren't you the one beaten and was about to be compacted with the car?", Jane asked shocked.
With a smile and slight chuckle, she replied: "Yes..."
"How did you recover so fast?!", Jane asked looking at her strangely.
Come to think of it.... How did she recover so fast?
Her presence made me completely loose or sense of logic.
"Oh stop it, I wasn't beaten up that bad!", she added.
"You were beaten unconcious!" , Jane addded as she looked at her with a more horrific expression.
"Ms. Jane, right?", She said touching her hand.
"I am fine!", she added.
"Thank you all for the love and care, but I really have to go!", she said looking at me and then throwing a glance at Jane's mom.
"Aren't you atleast going to eat something before leaving?!", Janes mom asked.
"No please, I really have to go!", She said and walked towards the door.
"If you are so much in a hurry, why don't you let me drop you off?", I offered as I walked towards her, for some reason didn't want her out of my sight.
"No please, don't worry, I don't like owing too many favours!", She said as she quickly walked out of the house.
I stood there looking out the window and listening as she walked away.
"Caleb!!", Jane called aloud.
Only then did I realize that she had been calling repeatedly.
"Uh?!!", I replied back in shock.
Sniffed once and added: "something's burning!"
My senses seemed to have come back in an instant.
"Jesus!!", Jane's mom exclaimed and quickly ran towards the kitchen.
"What's with the look?!", Jane asked.
I said nothing as I quickly walked towards the door since her foot steps was gradually fading away and overlayed by the sound of moving cars.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw her at distance getting into a cab; it felt like I should get into one of the cars and go after her.
But then, I figured I was going to be seeing her a lot while investigating Mariam.
"Mom... I am getting into Midtown highschool!", I said affirmatively and turned to Jane's mom who just came back from the kitchen panting.
"You what?!", Jane's mom said surprised.
"Why?!", She added quickly.
"I know! That girl just now! He likes her!", Jane said standing up with a smile and a raised brow.
As soon as her voice fell, her mom gave off a smile as well as she looked at me.
I naturally can't tell them that I want to investigate Mariam, so let's just leave them to think this instead.
"You can prove nothing!", I replied like a teenager would.
After eating, I stepped out to search for a place I can get myself tanned or painted, either ways a different color than pale; so Mariam doesn't suspect me.
From the looks of things she's very brave and a little quick in action. Just like the other time she saw the black car and quickly got into the next one to chase.
She didn't even think for a second that, I could be one of the men whom she from the looks of things made kill themselves in the field.
She was just so certain that once she got to the car, she can do what ever to who ever is driving it.
She's definitely not someone to be careless with.
To be continued.....
