As soon as his hand came down, the light went out and all could see the obvious transformation.
His wrinkles were all gone, his white hair became black and just like Julian, his face became as smooth as a baby.
The crowd saw a man looking eighty become one looking 30, young and vibrant.
The crowd needed not to see the Judges' analysis to know that Gandolf had won. And from the looks of things he was going to be ruler of Helilia for a long time just like his father.
At this time people had began to speculate the reason why his brothers didn't participate in this year's Apical battle.
They must have seen the obvious gap in strength between themselves and the God like man in the ring.
In the last Apical battle, the only person who came close to him was one of his elder brothers, Juria.
During the last Apical battle, Gandolf was 60 while his brother Juriah was 85, they were both born to Merlin after 100.
Juria was raised by Merlin himself but the time and energy spent on him was not as much as Yuda and Curia, Merlin's youth kids whom Merlin invested so much time and energy to teach and guide. At that time he wasn't Helilia's head.
Unlike others who trained disciples, training his own kids was Merlin's own way of passing his knowledge down to his descendants. His biggest dream was to raise the dead.
Although wise, Merlin was a very selfish old man. The main reason he wanted to learn how to raise the dead was so that when he died, his son or and daughter whom he taught would be able to wake him up.
But unfortunately, during a battle, his children, Yuda and Curia lost their lives.
Merlin's hard work died in a day.
His longing for the ability to raise the dead was heightened because of his children's death.
He had long been avoiding rulership, but after losing his children, he discovered that power would have preserved their lives.
So when he was 91, he contested in the Apical battle and won matchlessly.
At that time choosing a leader would involve the participation of all the spectators since they were not as much as they are now, it was easy.
With the power, he got acces to information and resources.
He ignored everything and everyone, totally focusing on this ambition of his.
When he was 101, he could straighten and mend broken bones without touching.
As time went on people stopped participating in Apical battles with him, because they knew each time, he had something new and better than the last.
As he grew older, he saw the need to have a heir who he could pour out his secrets to if he dies and is still unable to complete his quest.
So he met with a different woman, Zifier, and bore a son named Juria.
At an early age of 10, he began to teach Juria.
But Juria was carried away by his wealth and power, so he decided to have another and train him from an earlier age of 4, Naphtali.
Naphtali too was influenced by his brother and mother, so he ignored them all together and put all his focus on his research, hoping that he could complete his quest before dying.
Meanwhile, there was a maid who always served him and showed interest in his work. One day when he researched and got to a dead end, the maid came around to serve him, when she found him in this state, she comforted him and they ended up having an affair.
It was she who took in and gave birth to Gandolf.
Amira, Gandolf's mother's meeting with Merlin wasn't made obvious to all, this was after all at the time now made forbidden.
So while she was pregnant, she stopped serving Merlin.
And when she bore Gandolf, she continued serving this time with Gandolf by her side.
The little Gandolf was fund of the old Merlin.
He would always go to him when his mother served. Although Gandolf knew this was his child, he didn't show too much care to him so as to not arouse suspicions.
But he let Gandolf play around while he conducted his research.
People didn't think much of it at first, but as Gandolf grew older, he looked more like Merlin than even Juria and Naphtali.
He was not a demon in any way as all could see, the girl, Amira was not so powerful after all and was from that the city of Helilia and so the case was quickly dropped. But not by Juria, Naphtali and their mother, Zefier.
They went as far as plotting and killing Amira.
When Merlin knew this, he grew hatred for humans in general, the one woman whom he loved was killed by his own children.
He didn't punish them directly though, although, he still felt like they shouldn't have gone that far, he understood the hatred. And besides he couldn't think of a punishment more befitting than death. But how could he kill his own children?
So he became more strict, setting up laws and punishment for these laws so they themselves would web themselves in one of these laws.
Just as desired, Zefier became a victim to one of these laws and was put to death immediately.
This pleased Merlin, but not Juria and Naphtali.
Gandolf on the other hand remained diligent, following Merlin where and when ever, picking up what ever he dropped until Merlin's untimely death which he predicted.
But not before building a cave whose pass only Gandolf discovered.
To be continued.....
