"Sh_t!", I exclaimed as the hiss got louder.
The snake was obviously getting closer. The sad part was that I couldn't see a thing.
"Medusa! It's me Xender!", I said as I walked back until I came in contact with the gate of the cell.
My natural insticts of defense was about to kick in, but then, there's no point attacking such a beast in such a dark place, not only is it's size an advantage to it, it probably also has a better view in the dark than me. So the best thing to do at this point is to show him I am a friend.
"Medusa, I am a close friend of Derick!", I added.
As soon as it heard this, it slowed down.
"Yes! I am! Infact I was the one who rescued him!", I continued.
It came closer; so close could feel its warm breath on my skin.
"I mean no harm... I knew Mrs. Claire!", I added as he went around me, smelling me.
It hiss sligltly and robbed it's scales against my skin.
Seeing it calm down after hearing this names, I decided to mention some more, "I also know April, and June."
As soon as it heard 'June', I recieved a whip which sent me flying several feets in the air.
My head came in contact with the wall and that was the last thing I remembered before waking up in its belly.
D_mn!
I was I supposed to know that it wasn't a fan of June.
From inside its gutt, I could feel it's body move around violently.
What's going on out there?
I remained inside it baffled.
More importantly, aren't these things supposed to stretch after swallowing their meals?
I am supposed to be dead by now, why am I still alive?
Seems the reason why I was swallowed wasn't for his satisfaction, but my protection.
But, what's it protecting me from?
Inside its slimey belly was extremely hot and stinky, still don't know why I am able to breathe.
Throwing up doesn't even seem like an option, cause I rather swallow my own vomit than throw up and take in anything from this snakes belly.
my natural insticts made me attempt crawl out, but it was useless even. First the walls were too slipery to get a grip on anything. And secondly, I really don't even know which way is out.
After a while of twisting and turning, it finally threw me up.
It was still pitch black, so I really couldn't tell what Medusa had been fighting with; what really gave its fighting away was its heavy breathing.
I stood up feeling really irritated by myself. I haven't taken a bath since I got back from the forest now this. I have to find a way out of this place.
Why would a human make such a place for his fellow human?
I'll make sure the commander spends a night or two in this place, I swear to it!
I continued walking forward carefully until I came in contact with a flat surface having space breaks after a couple centimeters; this has to be the wall. I rubbed it a little more and discovered it was made of wood.
Of course!
That's all these people have, wood!
To create this dark effect, they stacked up several woods together, leaving no space between them.
Unlike Fort 1 which was entirely made of cement and blocks. And here we are still standing and they are no more.
Had it not been for Derick, who took out what fort 1 faced that brought them down to nothing for this ungrateful fort, they probably wouldn't have been alive.
Anyways, since the walls are made of wood, they can be broken by a great force.
Medusa is strong enough to break it!
But I have 2 problems.
1, how to get it to know what I want it to do; and 2, how strong it really is now that it has not eaten.
Thinking of this, I could only find another solution.
I guess I have to resolve to something I didn't want to do.
So I sat down and the floor, folded my legs and began to meditate.
About 5 minutes into my meditation, I heard the opening of the cell's door and was shut immediately. I opened my eyes to the pitch black abyss.
Are the guards back?
I heard the foot steps of someone walking towards the main cell where we were, but I remained quiet.
"Xender!", a male voice whispered.
"Yes?! Who is there?", I asked.
"It's Davis!", he replied.
As soon as I heard this, I was shocked.
Same Davis who spoke out for his people when we first arrived. Same one who held dad's hand from slapping me.
"What are you doing down here?", I asked as I stood up, and turned to where the voice was coming from.
"I came to set you free!", he replied.
"How and Why?", I asked.
"There's no time to explain the whys and the hows! I just need you to escape on my signal!", he said.
"Okay!", I replied.
Just as he came, he left, opening and shuting the door in a few seconds.
Why is this guy helping me?
What signal is he refering to?
After a while, I heard a sound, like something burrowing its way through the wall.
"Davis?!", I said turning to the direction where I heard the sound coming from.
Who would have thought that his idea of an escape would be coming from the roofs.
Just then I heard Medusa hiss.
"It's okay Medusa, he is a friend, here to rescue us", I said trying to calm it down.
It didn't seem to listen to my words, it hissed louder and crawled quickly to where I was; I could only take a few steps backwards.
Surprisingly, I found myself in its belly again.
This time I had an idea of which way was out; cause it swallowed me from my upperbody. But it was still almost impossible to get out.
I struggled in its belly, but it was of no use.
Its body began to move violently as though it was fighting something outside.
Could he be attacking Davis?
Thinking of this I became more uncomfortable.
Struggling remained futile, I could only hope that it wasn't so.
It groan in severe pain, from within it, I could feel its pain.
After a short while of twisting and turning around, I was brought out again.
I fell on the floor, feeling dirty once again.
I stood up and could hear it breathing heavily, "Medusa, what's wrong?", I asked as I walked closer to it.
As I followed the sound of its heavy breathing, I stepped on something sharp.
"Ah!", I exclaimed and stepped backwards in pain.
What did I step on? Sharp and wet!
Just as I try to get the sharp thing out of my foot, I heard a thud from the side of the wall.
I turned to see and found a beam of light emerging into the cell. The whole cell immediately lit up, not fully, but just enough for me to see its environs.
"Oh my!", I exclaimed in shock.
Being in the dark is truly dangerous.
Medusa was panting and badly injured, and around us were some dead bat like creatures, with sharp wings.
Same thing that pierced my foot.
Seems this is what Medusa has been protecting me from.
"Sub commander!", Ronald whispered as he pulled out some more wood from the wall, creating a small space for me to come out.
"Now!", he said.
What a straight forward signal.
However, seeing Medusa like this made me reluctant to go.
"Xender hurry! The guards will arrive any minute!", he replied.
But I can't leave Medusa like this; if I do, it will die!
To be continued......
