When I woke up, I saw myself in a peaceful dark and warm room.
I sat up immediately and began to look around.
From the open door, I could hear some people talking faintly.
I stood up and walked towards the sound.
As I walked closer my legs shook, but at this point, I could hear them talk clearly.
"He's not a good person Jane!", The man said.
"How do you know that, Benjamin?", Jane asked.
"Oh my God Jane! Are you blind! Can't you see the gun?! Does a good person walk around with a gun?!", Benjamin asked.
Jane kept quiet unable to give a reply.
"But he's so young..... or could he be some kind of special agent? They are usually trained from a very young age. I mean, how do you explan this weird box?", Jane replied after a few seconds of silence.
"That's none of our business Jane, we have to turn him over!", Benjamin said as he brought out his phone.
"Please don't!", I added as I walked out, leaping.
As soon as they heard my voice, they looked at me in shock.
"I'll leave…", I said as I further leaped forward.
"Here!", Benjamin said handing me the bag.
"But I'll hold unto this just to be safe.", He said taking the gun out of the bag.
I took the bag, and then the box which was placed on the table and then put it in the bag.
After zipping it close, I leaped out of the house, shutting the door behind me.
It's a really cold night.
The howls of the owls and the chirping crickets were the only things I could hear as I walked away from the wooden house in this forest like terrain.
"Benjamin!", I heard Jane say aloud.
That sounded awfully loud, I can only imagine how loud it would have been if it hadn't been for the necklace around my neck.
Shortly after, Jane opened the door.
"Wait!", She said.
"Please stay!", She pleaded.
"Your husband is right. I am not a good person", I added about to keep leaping when she asked: "Don't bad people eat too?"
At that point I stopped moving and it was obvious that I was hungry.
"At least come eat something before leaving...", She added.
……
While in her house, I sat down and was eating.
Benjamin sat directly opposite me with a gloomy expression as he held the gun, refusing to take his eyes off me for even a second. His bald head and full beard which had some grains of rice and sauce on it made his overall figure which he was trying make seem mighty, a lot less and a bit humerous.
Jane on the other hand, seemed quite younger than benjamin.
Although obviously in her late 30s or early 40s.
Her hair wasn't so long, but was tied up back, her chest size seems to be about a 34d, perfectly situated on her moderate body.
She sat beside me and was paying close attention to my eating.
"Where are you from?", She asked.
".....I don't know", I added as I continued eating.
"Young man you better answer my wife! She's the only reason you are still breathing right now.", Benjamin's added grumpily.
'The only reason you are still breathing is cause of this necklace on my neck!', I thought in my heart.
"Don't say that Benjamin, the boy has the right to keep what ever he doesn't want to tell a secret.", Jane replied.
"Alright my dear, what about your parents?", She added.
"I didn't know them either...", I replied.
"What?! Are you joking with my wife?! Now this boy's really getting on my nerves!", Benjamin said as he stood up pointing the gun at my head.
"If you don't tell us who your parents are, I'll blow your brains out!", He added.
"Benjamin!", Jane said now standing up.
"Can't you see that he is lying. How would a boy of this age not know his parents, guardian or at least know where is from?! Did he fall from the sky?!", Benjamin said aloud.
"That's his business Benjamin! Why are you being so..... So..... Gosh!", Jane said annoyed.
After speaking, she took a deep breath and turned to me.
"Well, can you atleast tell me your name?", She asked.
"My name..... My name's Caleb", I replied as I dropped the spoon on the plate.
"Thank you for the food", I said grateful as I stood up.
"Don't you think it's too late and too cold for you to be out all by yourself? Why don't you stay here till dawn?", She asked.
"Jane, do you know how dangerous it is to house a fugitive?!", Benjamin asked.
"You are too uptight! Let the young man rest. Why would the cops come here at this time of the night to check if we hid a fugitive in our house?", She added and Benjamin kept quiet.
".... If they do come around, I'll tell them you had a gun to my neck!", he said and left the room with the gun in his hand.
"My dear, you can sleep in the you left, hope you like it there?", she asked politely.
I stared at her face and in that moment, I was lost in her eyes; they seeed like the windows of mother theresa's.
"It's fine...", I added looking her.
"Please don't mind my husband Benjamin. I really don't care what you've done, the scriptures says which treat all men well", she added.
On hearing this, it felt like I could hear mother Theresa's voice echo.
"Thank you once again for the meal and hospitality.", I said stood up and walked into the dark room and located the bed.
As soon as I laid on the bed, I noticed the peace and quiet.
I didn't hear the crinkles of the bed when I laid on it.
Then and there, I new that the night sleep was going to be awesome.
........
Amidst my sleep, I felt a light tap on my head.
I opened my eyes, only to my self face to face with a gun.
"You better tell me where you are from, or I swear to god, I'll blow your brain out!", Benjamin said pointing the gun against my head.
To be continued.........
