"I hope you didn't believe a word he said!", Kareen said holding my arm.
"Katie, please don't tell me you considering it!", She added looking at my face.
"…Denzel is evil! He doesn't give without taking!", She added.
"What has he taken from you?!", I asked.
"He… he… f_ck! Yes, he's been protecting me, but look at what he has done, people he has killed. Jimmy's mom is in the hospital because of him. My only sister is in crutches cause of him! The ghost I summoned. Come on now! You really want Courtney dead because of Jimmy. Do you want a boyfriend that bad?!", She asked.
"Hell no! That's not why I am asking. What does he want? Why is he doing this?", I asked.
"He wants more believers!", She replied.
"Uh?! Why?!", I asked.
"It makes him……", just as she was about to complete her sentence, we heard a knock on the door.
"Girls…", Dad knocked on the door.
"Girls…", he called again.
"Yes dad?!", Kareen said as she opened the door.
"Mom's not around now, so I ordered us some noodles.", Dad replied.
"It's downstairs. The rest kids are waiting…", dad added.
"Okay dad…we'll be there in a minute!", We chorused.
After shutting the door, Kareen walked back to me and said: "trust me Katie, Denzel's no good and needs to be taken down!"
"Shhhhh!", I said covering her mouth and looking around.
"Isn't he going to hear you?!", I asked.
She pushed me off herself and added: "No! He's not here!"
"How do you know that?!", I asked.
"Can you see him?", She asked.
"No…", I said cautiously looking around.
"Then he's not here! Now let's go down, they are waiting for us!", She said about to open the door when I held her arm.
"So what's your plan?!", I asked.
"For now, we need to stop him from getting any new believer. Which is why we should hurry down!", She said pulling her hand and stepped out.
I quickly followed behind with my crutches. I hadn't eaten a thing all day.
"They are coming!", Jimmy said as we walked down the stairs.
Kareen got down first and sat down beside Chloe whose face hasn't appeared okay since the encounter.
Getting closer, I noticed a difference in Courtney's face as well. Chloe must have been talking.
According to Kareen, the idea is to avoid getting him new believers.
"What took you guys so long!", Jimmy said smiling, adjusting his gaze between I and Kareen.
"Sister stuff!", Kareen whose face had been straight replied laughing.
Jimmy heard that laughed awkwardly, obviously not finding it too funny.
"Let's eat! I believe everyone here's starving!", Jimmy said as he took up his sticks.
We were about eat when he heard a voice.
"Prayers!", A little voice suddenly echoed.
Everyone was drawn to the direction of the abrupt call.
"Chloe…!", Courtney said shyly, looking at Chloe.
"What?! Mom said we should always pray before a meal. Aren't you the one always scolding for not!", The little girl said.
After speaking everyone kept quiet, and out of nowhere, she began to speak: "Lord, I just want to say a big thank you for the meal, thank you for the provider."
"…Oh thank you for hands and mouths for many have foods but cannot eat.", As she prayed, she and Courtney chuckled a little.
On hearing this, I shut opened an eye to peep and they shut it back as she continued: "I pray that you bless everyone sitted here, and you keep the ghosts away, Amen!"
"Amen!", We chorused after her, gently opening our eyes to look at her.
"Let's eat!", She added with a smile and began to eat.
I and Kareen briefly looked at each other, then at her seemingly thinking of the same thing.
This little girl's ignorance might result in some new believers.
"What's it with you guys and this ghost thing!", Jimmy said abruptly.
After speaking, he turned to Chloe and added: "Chloe dear, ghosts aren't real…"
As soon as his voice fell, the lights flickered.
As soon as they came back to stability, there he was; Denzel standing on the dinning table.
