"Kareen… mom!", I said remembering that mom was taken out.
Kareen quickly stood up and ran out of the room saying: "I can't loose both my parents!"
What does she mean? Were those voices real?
I followed behind with my crutches.
……
On getting out, I saw Kareen talking to Chloe.
"What happened?", I asked, now standing in front of them.
"Mom was taken to the hospital with a cab", Kareen replied.
"What are we waiting for, let's go!", I said looking at Kareen.
Kareen stood there speechlessly for a moment, turned to me and said: "Katie, none of that really matters…"
"What are you saying, mom's was just admitted, we need to be by her side! Remember what she said!", I said pissed.
"You don't get it! These ghosts……", she said.
"What Ghosts?", I asked.
She paused, looked at Chloe and then back at me.
"…… Ghosts are r……", Before she completed her sentence, my phone began to ring from her pocket.
"Yeah!", Kareen quickly picked it up.
"She's at the hospital…… seemingly the one Jimmy's mom's in!", She said somewhat excited.
As soon as she ended the call, she looked at me with a sudden smile and said: "let's go! Let's go!"
Before I could say a word, she had stopped a cab.
"Get in Katie, quickly!", She said gesturing for me to go in.
We all got in.
……
In no time we arrived in the hospital, walked towards the counter and asked for mom's room number.
Seeing us, they didn't suspect our motives and so gave us a direct address.
When we got there, we saw Chloe's sister standing next to mom.
Opening the door made her realize that we were there.
They turned to us and with a loud shout, Kareen yelled: "Mom!"
"It's okay dear. Come say hello to your brother!", Mom said.
"You mean……", I said and paused as tears ran down my eyes.
Just then, the door was pushed open and dad rushed in.
"Honey!", He called as he walked closer.
"What's wrong?", Dad asked.
"I am fine! Come see your son!", She said.
We walked closer and just over her heard was the baby in a box like basket.
"Oh my God he is so cute!", I exclaimed looking at the cute baby in blue.
"Courtney!", Chloe said pulling her sister's hand.
Yes! Her name's Courtney!
"What's it Chloe?", Courtney asked.
"Nevermind… I'll tell you later…", she replied seemingly noticing that we were all looking at her.
"Mr. Monrow!", A nurse called from the door.
"Yes!", Dad replied as he turned around and walked towards her while I continued playing with the baby while leaning on the box basket were he was kept.
"But how?", Kareen said smiling and looking around herself.
"How what?", I asked her smiling.
"Mom was…… Dad was……", she said almost like one about to faint from bewilderment and excitement.
I understood here reaction to the situation.
I guess it had something to do with voice I heard from her room earlier, the one that told her that if she doesn't do something she was going to loose mom and dad.
Thinking of this, I smiled and looked at her slowly beginning to question their existence and power when suddenly; almost as though she heard a voice, she turned to Chloe.
"It didn't just happen dear…… there is a new believer!", A voice spoke.
"Oh no!", She exclaimed as her expression dropped.
Hearing this, I dropped the baby and turned to look.
"What's wrong sweetie?!", Mom said noticing Kareen's exclamation.
I turned to Chloe and noticed that she held tightly to Courtney's hand as she continued staring at a particular direction in fear.
I looked in that direction.
"Oh my God!", I exclaimed on seeing the boy with the bloody hands.
"Hello Katie!", He said with a smile.
