"But his girlfriend.....", Clark said and paused.
On hearing Clark's sentence, Miguel began to think.
He knew deep down that he had no affair with Kayla, but she confessed to all that he was responsible for her pregnancy, now she tells him to go back to the main city of Quaila to find master Xenguy. Getting here he discovered that master Xenguy had been killed by non other than his father's most trusted right hand man, Mercury.
This story doesn't add up.
The hatred his brother has for him is understandable, seeing that he was told that he slept with his girlfriend.
But could he be so cruel that he put his girlfriend as part of his plan? But if he did why then did his girlfriend ask him to look for master Xenguy? Could that have been a trap? Still doesn't make any sense. If he wanted him dead, he should have just done it that day at the Apical Chambers.
Even though, he hasn't been dad's favourite, Luca has always been a good and level headed youngman.
Miguel watched him grow up, he had always been against killing. How then could such a person be responsible for so many deaths now?
"I apologize My Lord, but Lord Luca seems to have truly loved Mistress Kayla. His attitude seems understandable.", Clark spoke amidst Miguel thinking.
"Why then are you with me?", Miguel asked looking at Clark.
"Don't you think it's a cruel thing for a man to meet with his brother's fiance?", Miguel asked.
Clark looked at the ground and remained quiet.
"Answer me!", Miguel roared.
"... My... My Lord.... ", Clark stammered.
"If you don't answer me, I am not moving another step with you!", Miguel added.
After a moment of silence, Clark finally spoke: "..... To be honest, the incident wasn't a good one. But after some thought, I don't see it as your fault either My Lord. Kayla doesn't seem like one who was forced to do this. One who was forced would have a different attitude, and seeing how bad it was, she wouldn't have kept it a secret. Even before her pregnancy, it would have been known all over that she was raped by....."
After his abrupt pause, Miguel stood a while and then looked up to the sky.
"What is all this?", He asked feeling greatly confused.
"Fire!!"
"Fire!!!"
They heard people scream as others ran in the direction.
They looked to the direction and could see a great smoke, an entire house was seemingly set ablaze.
Miguel and Clark needed not to guess or go close to know that the burning house belonged to the late master Xenguy.
Miguel nodded and turned to Luca.
"Let's go!", He said as he got on the horse and pulled Claire to himself.
"Where to my Lord?", Clark asked.
"Phytillia!", Miguel replied.
"Why, My Lord? What happened to protecting your father, Lord Palmer!", He asked.
"If who ever's doing this wanted him dead, I am sure he would have been dead by now. This person is clearly rooted inside the Apical Chambers.", Miguel replied.
"What about Mercury My Lord, all fingers point to him", Clark replied.
"Just because all fingers point to a man doesn't mean he is guilty, the right bribe can raise any and many fingers", Miguel replied.
"Get on!", He added gesturing Clark to get on.
Only then did Clark hop on and they began the journey back to Phytillia.
……
"My Lord, master Xenguy's house was burnt down", a guard reported to Luca.
"What?!", Luca responded.
"Was anyone seen around that there before the incident?", He asked.
"Sources say they saw some Apical guards and Miguel there just before the house was burnt.", He replied.
"Miguel?!", Luca added.
"Yes My Lord. After burning down the house, he was chased by some guards, he ran until he entered into one of the residence houses in Quaila and killed a woman with his horse, and afterwards, he ran off; in the process of running his belt fell on the incident ground", the man reported.
"I never wanted this fate for him, but he has gone too far! He wants to destroy the place before leaving! I won't allow that!", Luca roared.
To be continued.....
