Before our uninterrupted gaze at the door, it opened.
For a moment, there was a strange silence.
A little girl's voice spoke: "Where's she?"
"She's right here Chloe…", mom's voice spoke.
I turned to see and found the little girl from the saloon walking in with mom.
Seeing them, my heart eased alittle.
"Ms. Katie…", she spoke as she walked up to me.
I had honestly forgotten her name, but I quickly remembered what mom called her when she walked in.
"Hey Chloe, what are you doing here?", I asked forcing a smile.
After speaking, I noticed the change in her expression.
"Her sister was beaten up by the owner of the saloon!", Mom's angry voice roared.
"What?!", I and Kareen exclaimed p_ssed.
"Yes! That b_tch, Julie!", Mom further roared.
"Why?!", I asked feeling bad.
"Chloe said that her sister asked her for my number and Ms. Julie got angry!", Mom said more furiously.
After speaking, she turned to me, paused with two fingers on her head, then looked at me and said: "Sweetie, please forgive mom for being impulsive just now. How are you doing?"
Before I could say a word, she tightened her fist and added: "I just can't think…… I can't think of how to make that bastard pay for this!"
I could totally understand mom. Ms. Julie's act was monstrous.
As she spoke, Kareen stepped outside, slamming the door behind her.
"Where's she going?", Mom asked as we all watched her.
She turned back to me, hurried forward and said with some emotion: "what happened Katie? I heard screams, when I got out I found you in Jimmy's arms Unconscious and bleeding."
"Jimmy's arms?", I asked as my heart skipped several beats.
"Jimmy's a…… Wait!", Mom spoke and chuckled.
She pecked my forehead and said: "I can't imagine what I'll do if the situation was worse."
"Where's her sister?", I asked looking at Chloe.
"She's in one of the rooms…", mom replied.
"How's she?", I asked.
"She just sustained a couple of bruises, nothing too severe.", She replied.
After speaking she looked down at Chloe, patted her on the back and added: "Anyways, I have decided. They are moving in with us!"
"Really?! Mrs. Monrow, you are serious?!", Chloe spoke in a trembling voice.
"Absolutely!", Mom replied.
I on the had no problem with them staying the house, as long as they don't trespass.
Just then, the door opened and dad and. Jimmy walked in.
"Katie how are you doing?", Dad's concerned voice spoke.
"I am fine dad", I replied with a smile.
"Where's Kareen and who's this?", Dad asked looking at Chloe.
"This is Chloe……", mom narrated how they met and the current situation.
Dad and Jimmy's expression changed as they heard mom's narration.
"Why?!", Dad said mad.
Just then, the emergency alarm began to beam.
We could hear the sound of people hastingly running outside the room.
Dad and mom hurried out to see.
As soon as they opened the door, I too strained my neck to see what as going on.
"My God!", Mom exclaimed as the stretcher was rolled passed them.
Mom hurriedly carried Chloe back into my room.
"What's going on?!", I asked.
"Wasn't that Ms. Julie?", Chloe asked.
