"Ahhhhhhh!", I screamed.
"Katie!!", I heard Kareen scream alarmed.
I stood up and was about to run down the stairs, when I looked back and saw the lights come on once again.
This time the boy was standing next to me with a frown.
"Help me...", He said.
"Kareen!!!!", I screamed as I continued running.
But I noticed that I couldn't move.
At this time Kareen was standing in front of me.
I turned back and found the boy holding my leg.
"Help me...!", He said.
"Let go!", I yelled.
For a boy this small, his grip was far beyond his stature.
"Let her go!", Kareen scream as she ran up the stairs.
"As you wish!", He said.
As soon as he let go, I fell down from the stairs.
"Katie!!", Kareen yeld.
That was the last thing I remembered before waking up on a bed.
……
"Leave her alone!", I heard Kareen's voice say.
"You know I can't do that!", A voice replied.
"Please...... For my sake and for all the things I've done for you!", Kareen replied.
"What about the things I have done for you?!", The voice replied.
"Then what do you want in exchange for my sister's freedom?", Kareen asked.
"You know what I want Kareen.... What we wanted.... I wonder why you acting so childish about it now!", The voice replied.
I kept my eyes shut as I listened carefully.
"I am done, I don't want to have anything to do with you ever again!", Kareen said as she broke down in tears.
At this time, I decided to open my eyes and peep.
When I opened my eyes, I saw Kareen standing just infront of me, and the person she was talking to was seemingly in front of her, so I couldn't really see the person.
"Katie I am so sorry!", She said as she turned to me.
Immediately, I shut my eyes tightly.
There was a sudden pause.
"Katie...", She called as she touched my face.
"I know you are awake Katie!", She said.
"I see your eyes crinkle Katie, I know you are awake.", She said.
I decided then to open my eyes.
This time, I could see that we were in the hospital and I was on a sick bed with my arm and head in plaster.
"Hey...", I said awkwardly.
"How are you doing Katie?", Kareen said with a smile.
Her eyes and eyelids were still wet from the tears, so I asked: "Who were you talking to?"
"Myself!", She replied.
"I heard another voice Kareen, don't lie to me!", I said irritated by her cover up.
"You did?!", She asked.
"Yes! I did.... I believe you Kareen, I know ghosts are real!", I replied.
"They are not!!", Kareen said immediately.
I was shocked by her quick reply and the fact that she's been the one preaching her entire life about their existence, why deny it now when I've actually seen them?
"They are not real!", She added.
"Why deny their existence now?! Isn't this what you've always wanted?", I asked puzzled.
"I… I… I did, but…… But I've found out that they don't exist!", Kareen replied.
"Kareen, you shouldn't, I've seen them!! You've been right all along!", I replied with mixed feelings.
On one hand, I affirmed my sister's belief, meaning she hasn't been the one behind the previous pranks, and on the other, their existence is really scary.
"Katie! I am not right! This is all in your head!", Kareen said aloud now getting angry.
"Ghosts aren't real!", She screamed seemingly about to cry.
As soon as her voice fell, the lights flickered like they did last night.
"How do you explain that!", I said looking at the light.
"Explain what?!", She said looking at the light.
"The lights!", I said.
"The light?! The lights flickered, so what?! Something's probably wrong with the wiring or something, is that your proof?!", She said.
"Kareen, I am not imagining these things, I really did see a ghost. I saw him again last night!", I replied.
"Saw who?", Kareen asked.
"The boy, the one with blood on his hands, he...", I replied.
Admist my speech, she paused and looked at the door as the knob turned and made a click.
To be continued......
