Luca never expected that his brother Miguel would still be in Quaila's premises. He expected he'll be long gone, dead or thrown away; either ways far away.
So the news before him was a great shocker.
Why was Miguel here? And why would he send out the horses in this poorman's stable?
Was this his usual act of wickedness or for another reason?
Luca asked himself a lot of questions in the few seconds that preceded the mention of Miguel's name.
Then suddenly, he turned to the man and asked: "why was he here?"
The man who saw that his utterance had temporarily stopped Luca and his men began to speak some more: "...He was here to purchase a horse.... I presume for the journey out of Quaila!"
"Journey out of Quaila....", Luca thought and at the moment his heart was a bit at peace.
But still, if he was leaving Quaila, why release the horses? To cause one last havoc before finally leaving Quaila? That sounds like something Miguel would do... but he couldn't help but feel there was more to it that it met the eye.
"So why did he let the horses escape?!", Luca asked the salesman.
The salesman who had an idea why this was done nodded negatively and added: "I don't know My Lord!"
Luca got angry and picked him up with one of his hands.
"Weren't you here when he did this?", he asked angry.
"I wasn't My Lord!", The man spoke.
"Were then were you when my mad brother opened the stables for the horses to run out!", Luca asked.
The salesman then began to explain, excluding the part that he attempted to change the horses.
Luca now understood why Miguel did what he did.
From observation, he could tell that the man was agreedy person. He would have fled the city a long time ago or would have gone in hiding before they arrived, but his greed led him to take some of the horses with him on the escape. Seemingly same greed that made him want to switch horses with Miguel bring about his wrath and the consequence was losses.
"You fowl thing! Your greed has brought you way more than you can chew. Fortunately for you, I am Luca Starion not any other member of the Apical head. Your life will be spared!", Luca replied.
As soon as the man heard this, he became excited.
But his excitement lasted as long as he was not thinking.
When he began to think, he asked himself: 'Would Luca, the justice seeker let him go just like that? With no punishment? After all that he had his horses had brought upon the kingdom?'
Just as he thought, Luca added: "If and only if your horses had not killed any man, I would have spared your life."
Before the man could speak or plead, his head had fallen off his body.
Struck dead by one of Luca's men as ordered by Luca.
The lifeless body and head fell to the ground and in no time, blood was everywhere.
"Take as many good horses as you can get, kill the rest and meet me in the Apical Chamber! I sense something fishy!", Luca replied and went back to his horse.
.......
Meanwhile, Miguel and the watch guard who was leading him to Mercury were stopped by a guard.
"Where are you going you two?!", the guard asked.
Miguel immediately turned to him and as soon as he saw Miguel, he went on his knees.
"I apologize My Lord", he spoke.
"Come with us!", Miguel commanded as he continued walking.
In as much as he knew they wouldn't attempt to kill him before the slated 48hours, he didnt want the news about his location to be known to the Quailians especially his brother.
They finally got to Mercury's cell.
"Sir Mercury!", he called in a whisper like fashion.
When Mercury heard his voice, he was shocked.
"Miguel!", he called in surprise. Seeing Miguel made him develop mixed feelings.
On one hand he was glad Miguel could get him out of the cell so he may continue his plot, on the other hand he wondered how much Miguel knew that brought him to his cell.
"Shhhh!", Miguel spoke looking left and right.
"Where is master Xenguy?!", Miguel asked.
When Mercury heard this, he understood that Miguel must have figured out that master Xenguy had a hand in the twisted outcome.
To be continued....
