"Yeah. With how unstable Giblo Group is right now, they won't even trust me and Boris. It is perfectly understandable that they would want to sell off their shares to stay away from trouble, " Carla said.
"Yes, exactly…" Jamal let out a sigh as he continued, "All I can do is try my best to convince them. You try and figure something out as well."
"You and Mr. Thompson both have shares on hand, right?" Carla asked when she suddenly thought of something.
"Thompson doesn't, but I have five percent. Even so, we'll still lose if they manage to purchase that ten percent, " Jamal replied.
"Understood. I'll think of something."
"Let's just focus on rescuing the child first. Everything can wait until the child is safe."
"Thank you."
After hanging up the phone, Carla furrowed her brows as she thought to herself.
Da_n… Just when I thought I finally have things under control at the company, more trouble arises… Well, I don't have time to worry about that now. I have to first save Randy.
"It's about to rain, and that will greatly hinder the investigation… I wonder how Randy is doing right now…" Freda began to worry when she saw the weather outside. "By the way, I just got off the phone with Harrison earlier. He said Mr. Lierger has ordered him to rescue Randy within three days, so he has mobilized all of the men to search for Randy. I'm sure it won't be long before they find something."
"That's great! I hope we'll hear some good news soon!" Carla exclaimed happily.
After a whole night of raining heavily, the sky was finally clear the next morning.
Carla spent the entire night looking for Randy, so she didn't sleep a wink. She was about to take a nap when she got a call from Mosa.
"That guy has called for another board meeting tomorrow at three in the afternoon, Ms. Lierger."
"What does he want?" Carla asked in confusion.
Boris should've received the report of his analysis by now. If he has been poisoned, he should go confront Newton directly about it. Why would he call for a board meeting?
"We just received word about it, so I'm not sure about that. All the directors are preparing to come over. Mr. Domitos asked me to inform you."
"Okay, got it."
Carla was feeling a little uneasy after hanging up the phone. Her train of thoughts was interrupted when Naya's call came in all of a sudden. "Newton has Boris under his control."
"So soon? Did it happen right after he got his lab report?" Carla asked.
"I believe so. Although Newton didn't stop him from getting tested in Fairlake, he had someone tail him the whole time. Boris was livid after he received the report. He got taken away by men from the Gold family before he could do anything, " Naya replied.
"Looks like I really overestimated him…" Carla exclaimed in disappointment.
I thought Boris would at least be able to put up a fight against Newton after finding out about his poisoning, but he ended up getting captured immediately after… I bet Newton forced him into calling for this board meeting too!
"What should we do, Ms. Lierger?" Naya asked.
"Boris must've fallen out with Newton now that he knows he has been poisoned. Even if he can't do much at the moment, he can at least cause Newton some problems, and that will be beneficial to us. Newton no longer has full control over Boris like before. I'm sure Boris will expedite the execution of his plan, so all we have to do is wait and see. Something is bound to happen in the afternoon!" Carla deduced.
"Do we have to do anything?" Naya asked.
"What we have to do is stop the directors from selling their shares to Newton. Of course, we also have to rescue Randy…"
"Understood. I'll see if Mr. Domitos and Mr. Thompson need help with anything."
"All right, thanks."
After hanging up the phone, Carla checked the time and saw that there were still thirty-eight hours left until three o'clock in the afternoon tomorrow.
The situation is unfavorable for Newton right now. I've taken twenty percent of the shares, and Boris is no longer loyal to him. With his plan falling apart, this board meeting tomorrow will be our final showdown!
