"Ms. Lierger…"
Freda waited for a long time before she had the opportunity to speak to her. Before this, Carla was too occupied with the arrangements to rescue the children.
As things started to settle down, she could no longer hold her tears.
Ilali and Jewel too had been withholding their tears all night long. But the moment Ilali burst into tears, the others too followed suit.
Instead of explaining or consoling them, Carla chose to keep quiet and stare at them.
Freda noticed the aberration. She wiped her tears off and asked chokingly, "Ms. Lierger, are you laughing at us?"
Ilali and Jewel stared at Carla worriedly. "Ms. Lierger, are you crazy?"
"I'm perfectly fine. You're the crazy one." Carla rolled her eyes.
"You guys underestimated me. I'm not a gullible person that will fall for his trap easily. I have no problem dealing with Boris."
"Why don't you say it earlier? We were so worried!" Freda was infuriated. "I even wanted to kill Boris just now!"
"That's right! I was planning to bring him down with me!" Ilali was angry as well.
"All right, let's move on." Carla smiled. "I decided this at the very last minute. Now, no matter where I go, I will have to bring Hapilia's medicine with me. While I was on my way to Stifling Night, I realized
that Boris might create problems. Immediately, I called Roland and had him handle the situation. Hence, I did not have the chance to discuss it with you all. Nonetheless, I did not expect all of you to show up. The reaction by you and Brandy made everything look extra convincing. This way, Boris will not suspect anything about me."
"That's good." Freda patted herself on the chest. "I thought I might have ruined your plan."
"No matter what, there's progress now. I hope Charles manages to find Josh and Randy, " Carla sighed.
"It shouldn't be a problem. Charles is a capable person. He should be able to do it, " Lupin assured.
At that moment, Rogan called and Freda immediately answered, "Hello!"
"What? I'll be right over."
After hanging up the call, Freda said to Carla, "Ms. Lierger, Alpha's fever is not subsiding. It might be some sort of medical complication. Dr. Solova says that he must be admitted immediately!"
"How could that be?" Carla was utterly shocked. "When we brought her back, Naya said that her condition had stabilized!"
"I don't know what happened. Rogan only explained the situation briefly." Freda's expression turned solemn. "Actually, Dr. Solova mentioned that although she's skilled enough to deal with her condition, the equipment in the hospital is limited, which in turn limited her treatment options."
"Didn't I ask you to contact other hospitals? It may not necessarily be in Aymo City. Other places are fine too." Carla anxiously asked, "So what's her condition now?"
"I prepared a list previously and contacted the hospitals in the nearby cities. But all of them refused to admit her. I think this must be the doing of the Gold family. Furthermore, they must have seen the news and wanted to avoid making enemies with the Giblo family…"
Freda was extremely concerned. "Ms. Lierger, why not we try to contact hospitals overseas? I don't believe that the Gold family's influence extends to the international level."
"That's our only way." Carla nodded before uttering, "Drive faster!"
"Sure."
Soon, they reached Northridge. Carla came down from the car and rushed toward the clinic.
Alpha's fever had already reached thirty-nine degrees Celcius. Beside her was a worried Rogan, who had been taking care of her all the while.
Ellen saw Carla and muttered, "Ms. Lierger, you must think of a solution quickly. If we don't admit her to the hospital soon, her condition will be out of control. We can't afford that!"
