Taking Over
"What? Really?" The others gathered around him. "Didn't Daemon's yacht explode in the sea?"
"That's just his escape plan."
"Then…"
"But that's just a rumor. No one has confirmed it yet. But I think Daemon won't reveal himself easily. Perhaps he'll make a comeback soon."
"If Daemon makes a comeback, Mrs. Giblo is going to be an amazing figure."
"We can't be sure about that. Both the Giblo family and the Lierger family are still at odds. Ms. Lierger got back together with Mr. Giblo when Daemon was missing. Perhaps Daemon doesn't approve of their relationship at all."
"That could be possible. Perhaps Daemon will come to Aymo City to take her with him. If that happens for real, the Giblo family will be doomed. No one will be able to keep the order."
"Another possibility is that Daemon has planned to take over Giblo Group when Mr. Giblo is in trouble. After that, the Giblo family will no longer exist, and only the Lierger family will remain standing."
"Oh, dear. I don't think so…"
"Why not? Have you forgotten what Daemon is like? He could even kill his own sibling, let alone Zayn. Zayn is his family's enemy."
"Well…"
"If that's the case, will our investment go down the drain?"
"I don't think so. It will take some time for Daemon to take over Giblo Group if he has that in mind. Giblo Group is a huge company, and he can't do that alone. We need to speed up, complete the project, and get our share of money before Daemon takes action."
"You're right…"
The men were involved in a heated discussion. They had no idea that Freda, who had returned to grab something she had left behind, had overheard their entire conversation before leaving with a grim expression.
Back in the car, Freda reported what she had heard to Carla. Worried, she asked, "Ms. Lierger, will Mr. Lierger really object to you staying at the Giblo residence?"
Carla said nothing. In fact, she had already expected it. However, she was too busy recently to dwell on it.
Now that rumors were circulating in the outside world, she had to start pondering about it.
No matter what or who she encountered, she could forge ahead without fear. Alas, the mere thought of Daemon made her anxious.
Daemon was the only person she feared in this world.
If he wants to bring me back or has something else in mind, I'll be in deep trouble.
"Ms. Lierger? Ms. Lierger!"
"Mm." Carla snapped back to reality.
"Let's go to a restaurant." Freda glanced at her watch. "You haven't eaten a proper meal in days."
"I've got no appetite, " Carla answered bluntly as she rubbed her temples. "It's time to go to the office."
"But you haven't—"
"Just ask the cafeteria to send a sandwich to my office."
"All right."
Freda said nothing after that, but she was worried about Carla.
After the incident, she hasn't slept for three days and four nights. She didn't even get to eat as she had to keep the order and deal with various situations. No one was as upset and full of grief as her, but she didn't even have the time to cry. When she gets some time alone, she'll stare out of the window aimlessly.
"Hubby, where are you?" Carla muttered to herself as she stared at Rokan Hill.
Her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach.
She didn't have time to think about Zayn when she was busy, but he'd occupy her mind the moment she came to a stop.
Even though her instincts told her that Zayn was still alive, she couldn't help but panic at his disappearance.
Today is the last day. If he was kidnapped by the masked man, he should be suffering a lot now. It's hard to say whether he'll survive the ordeal.
