After leaving the emerald court, Chris didn't go home to Nora, his wife.
He wanted to unveil all his surprise to his wife during the wedding anniversary.
The precious Jade necklace was included in the surprise, he wanted to make up for not having an official wedding with this one.
He remembered their earlier days, how he and his wife, Nora, hurriedly registered their marriage as requested by Nora's grandfather, Mr. Bromwick, and so couldn't hold up a wedding.
Mr. Bromwick intended to select a date for a huge wedding, but unfortunately, not long after their marriage, he fell seriously ill, and was admitted to the hospital. And so the wedding was delayed.
Shortly after, news came that he had passed away. After that, Chris was completely sidelined by the rest members of the family. And of course, so was the wedding.
Nevertheless, it's all different now. He has the money, and so must give his wife the wedding she deserves.
The first venue Chris thought of as he thought of the wedding was the Shangri-La's Sky Garden!
Shangri-La Hotel was currently the best in the Hillsprings. The hotel had a large expanse of land with outrageous and luxurious decoration, it also had a shopping mall which was located within it.
On the highest level inside the mall, that's where sky garden was located. It got it's name from its rare design. It's exterior was made with crystal glass, and had flowers serving as fragrant, airlifted from abroad. This gave it the effect of a grand garden which was levitating in the sky.
It was the biggest and most luxurious banquet hall in the Hillsprings. It would definitely cost several millions to hold a wedding there.
With Chris's wealth, several millions were merely just a piece of cake for him. All he wanted, was his wife's happiness.
And so there he was, at the front of the Shangri-La Hotel, with an intent to make reservations in the sky Garden for his wedding anniversary with Nora.
But Chris was unaware that the hotel had a members only policy.
Meaning, you have to be a member to have their meals, stay or even have an event there.
And also, there were different levels of membership, each having different service packages.
A normal member can only have their meals in the lobby and are only allowed to stay in standard rooms. While silver members can have their meals in private rooms and are allowed to stay in luxury rooms. And then there are the gold members, who can have their meals in the deluxe dinning room and stay in deluxe suites. And a class just before the diamond known as the platinum members, these class could have their meals in the sky garden and were allowed to stay in executive suites.
But the diamond members were the highest of them all. The diamond members are given access to the presidential suite, and only them can reserve the entire sky garden for events.
However, it wasn't possible to just apply to be a Gold member or any other above membership class above gold. One can only get there by invitation, and such invitations only went to top and significant persons whose social status is high.
Chris was about going in, when he was blocked by several men in black.
"Excuse me sir, may we see your membership card?", they requested from Chris.
Chris's outfit was cheap and was so different in grade and quality to the ones the other guests there were on.
"Hi, May I speak with your hotel manager concerning the booking of venues?", Chris requested.
"I am sorry, we can't let you in without a membership card!", The man said.
"May I apply for a membership now?", Chris asked.
The man immediately shook his head, "I am sorry, you need to be referred to apply for membership here", the man replied.
Chris frowned irritated. Why is this place so troublesome?
Amidst his confusion, he suddenly recalled that he was enrolled into the Hillsprings university by Mr. Bromwick when he and his wife were in their senior year, they had a coursemate who was known as Ralia Lee who was a staff here!
So he quickly took his phone out and located Ralia's number.
He explained his situation to his former coursemate Ralia, "Don't worry course rep! I'll be right out with you", Ralia replied.
Chris thanked her immediately.
Although their were coursemates for just a year, but their friendship seemed sustained to certain level. He planned to sure return the favour to her eventually.
Some minutes later, a woman appeared.
"Hey, course rep!", she said with her high pitched voice from the entrance of the hotel.
When Chris looked up, he saw an office lady, with heavy and campricious makeup walking from inside the hotel.
Is this Ralia, she was so different now, so much so she was almost unrecognizable.
On seeing this vuloptuous lady approaching, 2 of the guards bowed, "Miss Lee", they greeted respectfully.
Chris was really surprised, "Wow!", he exclaimed unable to compress his surprise, "Ralia, we haven't seen each other in a while, you are now a manager in Shangri-La hotel, that's so awesome!", Chris added.
Ralia gave off a smile, "Course rep, you are so polite. I am actually just a small-time leader of the HR department, which is regarded as a low comapared to the middle managerial level here", she explained.
"It's still really impressive! I heard that the requirement for the management in the hotel are really high, which just tells how awesome you are!", Chris further complimented.
Ralia gleefully laughed, and turned to the guards next to her, "Which of you stopped my college course rep from entering the hotel?", she asked coldly.
The guards nervously glanced at themselves. "I am sorry Miss Lee, I had no idea he was your colleague at college. And moreover, he doesn't have a membership class, we were just following the rules of the hotel...", a guard quickly replied.
Ralia snorted, "The rules may be fixed, but people are not! Don't you understand this?", Ralia asked.
Chris felt that Ralia will punish them for what they had done, so he quickly interposed, "Don't blame them Ralia, they are just doing what they were asked to do", Chris defended.
Ralia immediately turned to Chris and began to laugh as her expression changed, "My dear course rep, do you actually think you are somebody? Do you really feel I would punish them because of you?", she added.
In dismay, Chris frowned, "What do you mean?", he asked.
"What do I mean?", She asked with a scornful grin, "Isn't it clear enough? What made you think a useless loser like you can go into the Shangri-La hotel? Let me make it clear to you right now, don't even hope to in your dreams!", Ralia added.
Chris tightened his fist, "What the f_ck do you mean by that?!", Chris said really pissed.
"I am teasing you!", she grinned like a cat, "I never liked you when we were in college. How can a loser like you who knew nothing else but studying, one who couldn't even afford a meal with meat at the school's cafeteria be a course rep? Who were you to make remarks about my results and studies? Yuck! Did you not look at yourself in the mirror?", Ralia mocked Chris.
"Ralia, I don't recall doing anything that offended or provoked you in school, why ridicule me?", Chris asked.
