Mrs Claire soon followed, "April!", she called as she went outside. "Medusa!", I called after some failed attempts to get up, "why now!", I said to myself. I closed my eyes feeling really helpless, as I hoped that Medusa is out protecting miss Claire and April. But hold up, if I am this weak, I wonder how is Medusa going to be, what if she gets angry and swallows something, "sh_t!", I exclaimed, "I have to... I promised Mrs Claire!", I said to myself as I finally got up, picked up my cutlass and held my knife which were not far from where I laid, June must have taken my bow.
Still staggering, I walked out, April and Mrs Claire seemed to have gone out in search of June, and just as I thought Medusa was lying beside the tent, and I thought I was in a room, "Medusa!", I called as I tapped it, it said made no moves, obviously fast asleep; I don't blame it for not responding, it moved alot during the fight, to be honest a little more than myself.
I guess I have to go out alone, I walked into the forest, in the direction I heard June's shout coming from, I am honestly in no position to fight, and June's got my arrows, what do I do now.
After walking a while, I soon began to hear voices, "please sir", I heard Mrs Claire begging, "lady, why beg?", I heard another voice say, "please sir?", April begged crying, "can someone please tell me why these ladies are begging", the voice went on, "I have no intention of eating your friend, and even if I do, why would I eat him alone", he said as I walked closer standing near a tree and peeping.
The zombies held Mrs Claire and April, "Someone has been killing my army, at a very drastic and unfriendly rate", the voice said, it was the man on the white suit, after six long years he was back, and at the wrong time, if only I was at full strength, "we are not the ones", April said still crying, "I know, none of you are capable of doing such, it's not in your blood", he said and was walking closer to April, "you may not be the one, but you know who is", he said, "I don't know", she said, "lies!", he yelled and slapped her, "ahhhhhhh!!!", she screamed, "sh_t!", I muttered from where I stood, holding back, knowing fully well that my coming out will just lead to loosing all our lives.
His hand on her alone led to her bleeding, "I prefer you keep quiet than lie to me", he said as he turned to Mrs Claire, "humans are always lying, what a species", he added, "Who is it?", he asked Mrs Claire, I have to intervene, one hit from this guy will end Mrs Claire's life, Mrs Claire kept quiet, "Madam, I said who is it?", he asked again, "she doesn't know!", April replied just before I stepped forward so didn't, she was slapped immediately.
"stop!!", June said, "can you tell me?", he asked June, "his name is Derick", June said, "Derick", he said and paused, "Derick", he called again, "I know that name, where is he?", he asked, "he's by the river", he replied, "take us to him", the zombie on white suit pushed June forward to lead the way, "Sh_t! Medusa!", I said as I hurried back to the tent.
When I got back, Medusa was still asleep, "Medusa!!", I said hitting her, "come on buddy! Please get up!", I said still pushing, "what do I do now", I said as I stopped to think.
I quickly put out the fire, gathering up the woods used to set up the fire, I placed them all at place quite some distance from where they where, in a similar camp ground along the path I was certain the zombies would have to go through before getting to where Medusa was, I set up the fire there and rushed back to carry the tent, piece by peice, until just a few parts were left, June's things included to add to the effect, plus they were closest to the door, once I was done with that, I set the tent ablaze.
"Is this the place!", I heard his voice as they came closer, so I rushed to a nearby tree to watch and think of my next move, "my stuff!", June yelled as he walked closer to burning tent trying to recover his things, but the flames had almost completely destroyed them, "No!!", Mrs Claire screamed crying and kneeling before the tent, "Derick!", she added.
"Is this the place?", he asked again, "yeah! Can't you see the tent! Derick is in there!", June said to him, "More lies!!", He said and hit June on the back and he fell with the bow in his hand, "Nobody stayed here!", he said p_ssed, "how could you say that! can't you see the place in flames! Derick's dead!", April yelled, "quiet!", he said and hit April once again, "lies! lies! lies!", he said continiously hitting her, I was restless where I stood, pinching, thinking and holding myself back from doing something stupid, "April!", June said as he tried to loose the grip of the zombies holding him but failed, "please stop! I can't loose her too", Mrs Claire begged as she went closer since no one held her, she was pushed back by him, she sat on the floor and began to cry helplessly, "you guys always try to act smart!", he said and turned back to April who was bleeding badly.
From where I stood, I couldn't just stay still, I pinched, bit, tighened my fist in anger, while doing that I saw June's empty gun on the floor, it must have fallen off when I was carrying his things, I turned back to them and saw the zombie on white about to hit April again.
"I am here!", I said as I came out from where I hid, knowing fully well that if that blow lands on April she was definitely going to loose her life, and all I am trying to keep will be revealed, because they would eventually go on a search and would end up finding Medusa.
"you must be... Derick!", The zombie on white said as he saw me come out of the woods, "why did it take you so long to reveal yourself", he said as I got closer, "Derick!", Mrs Claire uttered aloud in shock and excitement, "yes! You are the one!", he said as he left April to fall freely on the ground, "What do you want?", I asked as I walked closer, "don't touch me!", I said as I stabbed the hand of the zombie about to hold me, and my cutlass immediately went through it's head and it died on the spot, and the rest stayed clear, "Violent!", he said with enthusiasm, "is that what you want?", I asked now standing in front of him.
To be honest, if this guys should round me up, I won't make it passed the first two, so all I wanted to do was to create fear, knowing it's the best I got since Medusa is still fast asleep and I am in no position to fight.
"No, I mean yes, but not among ourselves but together", he said, "There's no way am fighting with you", I said to him, "exactly! Wait! no, this is one thing I still find really complicated; the english language, where one sentence could mean two different things", he said and was laughing, "is that what you came to talk about? The english language. If yes I have so many books on them in a place some distance away, I could point you in the right direction", I said to him, "Bold and of high intelect; you've been bitten haven't you?", he asked, "uhh!", I exclaimed confused, "only a few humans posses such traits, and the ones who do, are never this young", he explained, "I don't have time for this!", I said as I brought June's gun from the back of my shirt where I hid it, and then pointed it's nose at the white suited zombie, "woah!", he exclaimed as the rest zombies tried to attack me, "if any of you move an inch, I blow his brains out", I said and they ignored as they continued coming but I did not flinch for even a second, I looked the white suited zombie in the eye, "you are smart, why don't you explain to them position you are in", I said to him, "stop!", he commanded and they all stopped, "let my friends go and I promise not blow your head off", I said to him, "humans always lie", he replied, "unlike any human you've met before, I intend to keep my promise, and you know I am not like any human you've met", I said still looking him in the eye, "I have met quite a lot of humans you know", he said, "one who has gotten this close to end your life", I added, "actually, I have; 6 years ago, a woman came this close to ending my life, and like you she tried to strike a deal with me", he explained, "and you killed her", I said pushing the gun to his face as the rest zombies growled louder, "come to think of it, I now see the resmblance, you are the child she was trying to protect", he added.
"Yes! you killed my mom!", I said crying and trying so hard not loose it and accidentally pull the trigger of this ammoless gun, "you are so much like her", he said as he continued looking at me in the eyes, "let them go!", he commanded and the zombies let go of June and created a path for them to pass, June quickly picked up his sister and Mrs Claire as they walked behind me.
"June, get the bow!", I commanded, he stepped forward, collected the bow and walked to my back, "order them to run far away!", I commanded, he said nothing still looking at me, "are you deaf! I said order them to run away!", I yelled pushing the gun to his head, "if I do that what happens when you kill me", he said, "June! go grab this guy!", I said to June, "what!", June exclaimed a bit terrified, "just do it!", I said to him, "I can't!", he replied.
I was slowly getting frustrated, but refused to take my eyes nor the gun of him. I quickly glance at the zombies closest to the burning tent, and realised that they gave a reasonable distance between themselves and it, "all of you go get woods!", I commanded, "what!", June exclaimed, "do you really want to fight us with sticks?", he asked, "the majority of my brothers here have metal plated heads, am sure you know what that means by now", he explained, "June! I thought by now you would stop with your doubting and be more obedient!", I said aloud, they soon departed in search of wood, "hurry!", I added as they left, "if you send your brothers after them, I'll take you out of the family tree!", I said pushing the gun to his head, he smiled and chuckled, "nice use of words, I really can't wait to eat your brain", he said, "what do you gain from that? why do you guys eat human? where did you guys come from?", I bombarded him questions, "easy now", he added about to turn his head, "don't move!", I commaded still pushing the gun against his head, "do you play chess?", he asked, "what's chess?", I asked, "when you become one of us 'll show you how it's played, for now this actually feels like a big game of chess, you having the queen on check, killing it won't end the game, but no player wants to loose their queen, so they sometimes adore it more than the king himself", he explained, "you haven't answered any of my questions", I said to him, "if I remember correctly, your first question was what we gain; well eating is a general need of all living thing, but unlike humans, we can live an entire year without eating, but we tend to grow more aggressive when we don't, become faster and develop generally, but nobody likes starvation. The more intelectual brains we eat, the smarter we get, I have been feeding on intellegent humans, and even when I aint hungry I go for their brain and let my brothers have the rest, with that, I have most of their recent and past knowledge, vocabulary included", he explained, "that's why I can tell you that, I know your dad! And yes I was the one who killed him", he added.
On hearing this, I became more furious, "shut up!!", I yelled and pulled the trigger and silence took over, he opened his eyes slowly, "wow!", he exclaimed, "threatening me with an ammo less gun as though there was something in it", he said and began to clap, "wow!", he exclaimed again as June and the rest came back with the woods, "capture them!", he commanded.
