"Lady Lisa, I'm glad that you like it." Carla heaved a silent sigh of relief.
Daemon had prepared everything for her before she set off for F Nation earlier, including this unique gift for Lucas' parents. Thus, she did not need to rack her brains on what to buy for them.
Only then did she realize that Daemon had prepared such a priceless gift for her. The chances of getting such a big luminous pearl were very slim nowadays.
She knew that Daemon was protective of her and wanted to ensure that nobody would look down on her regardless of where she was. As a member of a prominent family, he wished that the others would look highly upon her all the time.
"I like it so much, Carla!" Lisa felt a prickle of joy and embraced Carla. She was mesmerized by the luminous pearl and could barely put it down.
"Lady Lisa, you are welcome, " Carla replied with a smile.
"Mommy, how I envy you! Carla has never given me any gifts!" Lucas teased Lisa, pretending to be green with envy.
"Mischievous brat, how dare you pull my leg." Lisa laughed heartily at Lucas' words. She held Carla's hand and led her toward the living room. "Carla, let's take a seat and have a chat."
"Sure." Carla nodded and took a seat.
"I have also brought some gifts for the kids, and I planned to give them to the kids when I meet them tomorrow morning. Ah! I have gifts for both of them as well." Lisa smiled and gestured to Marianne.
Marianne immediately handed two gifts to Freda and Rogan respectively.
"We have gifts too?" Rogan was stunned.
"I have heard about both of you long ago. You are not only Carla's trusted aides but also deemed her family. I'm glad that you will be joining our big family with Carla and looking forward to it!" Lisa uttered excitedly.
Both Freda and Rogan turned to look at Carla. After Carla nodded at them approvingly, they thanked Lisa politely, "Lady Lisa, thank you."
"You are welcome. We are all a family, so you don't have to be so formal with me. It's just a small gift from me." Lisa smiled again.
"Have a look to see if you like it." Regardless of his family background, Lucas was down to earth and treated both of them rather well.
"Yes, we like the gift very much. Lady Lisa, thank you, " Freda and Rogan replied courteously.
Lisa seemed to have a lot to share with Carla. As she was chattering enthusiastically, Carla listened to her attentively and responded courteously at times.
Lucas could not chime in at all, but he was more than willing to help pour them coffee and serve them desserts from time to time.
After about half an hour, Lisa yawned as she was overcome by sleepiness. She held Carla's hand and said, "Carla, it's quite late now. Let's continue again tomorrow."
Carla stood up right away. "All right, Lady Lisa. Let me accompany you to your room."
Lisa waved and shook her head. "It's all right. Marianne can accompany me. Both you and Lucas should go to bed earlier. I can't wait for both of you to bear me a grandchild."
Hearing that, Carla was dumbfounded and looked down in embarrassment.
In an instant, Lucas' face flushed, and his ears turned red.
"Haha! Look at you! I can't believe that you are blushed crimson! Both of you are adults. What is there to be shy of?" Lisa patted Lucas on the shoulder and teased them.
"Mom, just drop the subject already." Lucas changed the topic swiftly. "Let me accompany you upstairs."
"Ah! Could it be both of you haven't…" Lisa blurted out the words when something struck her.
"Mom!" Lucas cut her off in embarrassment.
Lisa smiled again and appeased him. "It's all right. I'm too impatient. Since both of you are getting married soon, I thought…"
Carla smiled awkwardly with her head remaining low, and her lips not uttering any words.
"It's all right. Don't be stressed. After all, Good things come to those who wait." Lisa gave Lucas a subtle glance and patted Carla's hand. "Carla, it's all right. I'm not urging you. Just take your time."
She then smiled and stepped out of the room.
"Carla, I never expected that my mom would be so straightforward. I hope you don't mind, " Lucas apologized sheepishly.
"No issue. Just go ahead to accompany her, " Carla reminded him gently.
"Okay." Lucas nodded and made a beeline for Lisa.
All the other subordinates left after him as well. After all of them stepped out, the smile on Carla's face faded gradually.
"Pfft! I finally have a clue about Lady Lisa's main intention to be here. She's worried that your marriage with Sir Lucas will be just in name and tends to do something to turn it into a reality!" Rogan scoffed right away.
