MERYLIN'S P.O.V:
I watched Caleb leave the school with Mrs. Patrick and it was obvious that something was up.
Nonetheless I can't follow them and leave Mary here to cry alone, we have to go home. They were not many teachers in the school, it was only right that there be no classes as well.
"Mary, let's go call your mom", I said to Mary who was still in tears, "she went for a job interview", Mary replied.
"Interview? I thought she didn't want to get a job", I replied remembering how much Mrs. Jones always talks about hating the idea of working under people, and always beaconed on Mary's dad to open up a huge store for her.
"She decided to help dad out, since I'll be going to College soon, more money would be needed to send me to the college of my choice... So she said", Mary explained as she wiped her tears.
"Why was your brother with Mrs. Jones? Do they know each other", Mary asked.
"I really don't know", I replied as I watched Mary stand up from the ground where she sat crying.
"We really need to go somewhere else, this school's only going to put is in more grief", I adviced as Mary stared blankly at me with her red and heavy eyes.
"Where do you propose we go Merylin?", she asked.
"Let's go to a restaurant and get something to eat, maybe an ice cream or something. Just something to get our minds off this", I explained.
"I am not having too much money", Mary replied, "don't worry, it will be my treat! You've done enough.. I have been saving for a while for the new grape pods my parents refused to get for me. Taking a few bucks for ice cream with my best friend shouldn't break the bank", I said to her as I grabbed her by her hands, and pulled her away.
Mary Jones, my best friend. She's always had my back since we were little, her and her family.
Her dad's the owner of a growing business, while her mom, a stay at home wife with a college degree. She wants to have her own business just like her husband and so refuses to work.
And so all expenses rests on the shoulders of Mary's father, Mr. Jones.
Is she a b_tch? Well with her college degree, a first class in marketing, and consedering the number of uneducated Entrepreneurs in the control, her husband include, it was almost certain she'll end up working for one of them. But pride never let her.
"I have just enough to get us in a cab back to my place", I said as we walked out of the school.
The sun's light shone bright, we couldn't help but squint to see. "Taxi!", I called as I we got the road, and the cab driver pulled over.
When we got to my house, I discovered the door was open.
"Is someone still in?", Mary asked surprised as well. "I am not sure", I said as I rushed in.
On getting in, I saw no one.
"Mom! Dad! Hello!", I called out as I carefully looked around. "It seems you guys forgot to shut the door when leaving", Mary said as she sighed.
"I don't think so, we never do that!", I said still trying to see an evidence of someone breaking into the house.
Just then, I heard Caleb's voice, "Merylin!", I turned around immediately.
"Caleb!", I said as I watched him walk to where we were with a nylon bag.
"Where were you? And why did you leave the door open?", I asked him as he walked closer like a model on a runway. "Oops, my bad! I went out to get some cookies", he replied.
"Cookies?", I and Mary chorused in surprise, "yes cookies! Don't you like cookies?", he asked as we both stared at him speechless.
Why would Caleb go get cookies, he's been talking fluently like a normal boy, which is very unlike him.
"Are you okay?", I asked. He exhaled and looked at me with a frown slowly setting in.
"To be honest, I am not", he said and walked to sit on one of the couches as I and Mary stared at him still bewildered.
He brought out a cookie and began to eat, "do you guys want some?", he offered but we remained speechless, "what's up with you?", I asked as I walked closer, concerned.
"Look... I like taking chocolates when I am in a bad place, and the death of Mr. Patrick hit me pretty hard. Just when I thought I found someone who actually know about my origin, now he's gone and I can't help but feel responsible for his death", he said as he took another bite of the tasty looking cookie.
It was then I realized what was up.
"How could you blame yourself for the death of the principal, he barely ever knew you", Mary who was kind of clueless about the happenings in the last days said. "I guess it's just his way of dealing with grief Mary, it's not your fault Caleb. Why don't you come with us we are going to get ice cream, you can have the chocolate flavour", I said to him as I sat next to him.
"Really?", he asked enthusiastically, "of course!", I replied smiling as I stared at his nice set of teeths that were revealed with a smile.
"You guys deserve a cookie", he said standing and handing a cookie to I and Mary.
We both smiled and collected the cookies. "Let's go!", he said urging us to out of the house.
"Okay! Okay!", I and Mary said sequencially as we bit into the tasty looking cookie and walked outside.
Caleb's acting really strange though, "Caleb!", I called looking at his face, "yes Merylin?", he replied with a smile, "gosh, I see why you like him.... ", Mary said as she too stared lustfully at him.
"Mary!", I yelled shyly at her, "Why would you!", I said hitting her head as Caleb laughed, cutely pulling his hair backwards, revealing his nice blue eyes.
I honestly don't care if he knows, I really like him, infact I love him, he's just too cute.
"Merylin... Aren't you forgetting something?", Mary said smiling at me, "Oh my gosh! The money!", I said about to run towards the door, when Caleb held my hand.
I opened my eyes, and discovered tied up against a chair, the only thing I can remember is Caleb holding my hand. How did I get here? "uhh?", I exclaimed confused as I looked around the seemingly abandoned warehouse.
"Mary! Caleb!", I called as I tried to get off the chair.
"Please! I don't have money, my parents aren't rich!", I began cry and yell.
"Shut up Merylin! Who says we after your parent's wealth?", I heard Caleb's voice say.
"Caleb?", I uttered in shock as he walked out of the shadows with a box in his hand.
"Wha... How? Why?", I said heart broken as I saw him walking closer, "so this was your intention all along, to come into our home, study us and kidnap us", I cried but internally and externally.
My heart shattered in pieces.
"How could you do this, after everything we've done for you, my dad... My mom was right about you all along!", I added still crying.
"Where's Mary?", I asked looking around.
"Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! All wrong conclusion and questions!", he said as he walked closer.
"How do your parents have, how much does young Miss Jones have? You guys are worthless", he added as he got closer.
"Who are you, really?", I asked now p_ssed at Caleb.
Is this what he has been doing, going from one house to the other getting sympathy and capturing a member of the household.
"Now that's a good question!", he said as he picked a rod from the ground.
"For a start, I am not Caleb", he said as held up the metal bar.
He is not Caleb?
I squinted looking at him still trying to believe that the person before me wasn't Caleb.
"Then who are you?", I asked still in doubt.
"I am his brother, Kelvin", he replied as he effortlessly bent the metal in his hand as though it was clay, twisting it to any form he saw fit.
