"Your subordinate had explained to me and even sent me back to Yavawi." Diane added, "We were worried about you. So, we decided to visit you on the weekend."
"Let talk in the study."
After inviting them to the study, Carla instructed the maid to prepare some coffee.
Looking at Carla, Grobium was getting all emotional. He remarked, "After the incident at the wedding, we heard about how you and Mrs. Borah got into trouble. I was really…"
Just as he spoke, Grobium's voice began to break. "I hated myself for being powerless to do anything. Or else, I would have held the Giblo family accountable!"
"Mr. Srudem, it's all over now. So, let's not talk about that anymore, " Diane reminded softly.
"Yes, yes. You're right."
Grobium regained his composure.
On their way to see Carla, Diane had repeatedly reminded him not to bring up the past. Carla had a new life now that came with new considerations of her own. Hence, they shouldn't influence her decision in any way.
"How have you been over the years?" Carla changed the topic.
"We've been good." Grobium began talking about the factories. "The few factories that you invested in are doing very well. In fact, we have even built four more."
"Really?" Carla was delighted at the news. "That's good to know. At the very least, I didn't disappoint my dad."
"As for your money, I have saved it for you." Grobium handed her a bank card and a ledger. "These are the accounts from the last two years and the bonus you deserved. In total, there's about twenty million. It's not much now but will increase in the future."
"Please continue to keep it safe for me." Carla pushed it back to him. "I'll get it from you whenever I need it."
"All right." Grobium kept the items. "I'll continue adding the dividends into the account in the future."
"Mmm-hmm." Carla nodded with a smile. "It warms my heart to know that both of you have been doing well."
"You took the words out of my mouth." Grobium felt relieved. "I'm happy to see that you have been doing fine too. Over the last two years, my inability to protect you has been hanging over my head…"
Pausing briefly, he changed topics. "I heard that you have reunited with your mom's family and they are really powerful."
"Mmm-hmm." Carla nodded.
"How powerful? Can they protect you from being bullied by the Giblo family?" Grobium asked with concern.
Carla smiled slightly. "The Liergers and Giblos are of similar stature. However, in some instances, the Liergers do exceed the Giblos."
"What? That powerful?" Grobium was excited to hear it. "That's wonderful. The Giblos will not be able to bully you anymore."
"Don't worry." Carla declared confidently, "No one in this world can bully me anymore!"
"That's good, that's good." Grobium nodded. "I'm happy as long as you're safe. I'm just worried…"
Grobium didn't dare finish his sentence. Instead, the changed topics. "What about the children? Have you seen them?"
"They're with me." Just as Carla spoke, Josh's voice rang out from outside. "Randy, quick! Dori and Little Dori are waiting for us outside!"
"I'm coming…"
"The kids are here?" Diane was delighted to hear them. "That's wonderful! Carla, I'm really happy for you."
"Did the Giblos agree?" Grobium was still worried. "Won't they try and get them back?"
"Zayn dropped them off himself, " Carla replied with a smile. "Don't worry. I'm no longer the Carla Wigston of old."
"Fantastic!" Diane was excited. "It warms my heart to see who you have become. We have to remember the lessons from the past that is not to be bullied by others."
