PREVIOUSLY ON CALEB'S MIND:
Mr Patrick, he seems to be the only one I know with a substantial amount of information about me.
The government is unaware of Caleb's existence.....he was kept a secret, a very dangerous one.
A tall white man, wearing a mask built with a voice enhancer, apparently to conceal his identity, he had gloves on as well, kinda like an assassin....., "you snuck into my house...".
"all would be answered if you come with me", he replied, "can you just listen to yourself!?", I asked irritated, "what if there was a threat attached to my kind offer".
I followed Mrs Patrick to her late husband's office......."Mr Patrick wanted me to give this to you!", she added, giving me a CD.

"May I ask a favour?", Mrs Patrick asked, "what's that?", I asked back, "let's watch it together", she said to me, "uhh?", I replied quite confused, "haven't you seen it?", I asked, "I couldn't, it has a password that requires a really complex mathimatical calculation, to be solved within a short period of time, that I believe only you can do", she added, "..take me to your house", I said.
We walked out through the hall way where some students continued lamenting and others staring, "Caleb!", Merylin called, I turned to her while walking, "what's the problem?", she asked, "nothing", I replied as she looked at me in confusion.
We arrived at the patrick's residence, a well built duplex, with a garden as the front lawn. She opened the door and we both got in, "sit", she offered and I did, she slotted the disk and as she said, an equation of letters and decimal numbers popped up on the TV screen, "that's it, here's the control", she said and gave the TV's remote control to me, I turned back to the TV and the former equation was gone, another had appeared, "oh and I forgot to tell you, from my observation it seems it's 1 equation in 10 seconds", she explained.
It had been 8 seconds since the last started, so in 2 it should be up, I looked at it and in a second and 0.5 I had my answer, but can't input it in 500ms so I'll pass, the next came up immediately after, and in less time than the last, I had the answer with enough time to press it on the remote. On doing that, the TV displayed a 'Welcome Caleb', "wow!", Mrs Patrick exclaimed in shock.
The video began, Mr Patrick's face was boldly displayed on the TV, "hello Caleb, Hello Kate", Mr Patrick said waving and smiling, "hmm", his wife uttered silently, covering her mouth with her hand as she cried, "Katy, I am sorry I had to leave the way I did, I didn't tell you because I wanted to spend the few time I had left with you. Please don't blame yourself or Caleb for what has happened, it is all my fault", he added as we continued watching, "without your permission, I requested for Caleb's admission into the school, because I wanted to be his guardian, but little did I know that the church had been monitoring Caleb and the government had been monitoring the church. The transfer resulted to the arousal of an immediate suspiscion and they had spies looking into the case, not until he had finished taking down those boys at school did I realize the spies, after seeing them, I knew exactly what was going to happen next, so I quickly came home to make this video. They are going to come for me really soon, and wasting time packing will be futile, for I have no where to run, especially without proper planning, and it would affect my darling wife, Katy, so best I tell you all I know about you now and spend the time I have left with her", he said and took a deep breath, seemingly about to start.
"I wanted to tell you this bit by bit, so it would be easier for you to handle, but then again you are the Caleb, one with the best gift among your siblings. Let's start from how you were created. Just like any other child you were forged from an intercourse, and like in some rare cases of pregnancy, you were not alone in the womb, your father was a broke physicist who needed funding for his researches, unfortunately at that difficult stage of his life, he your mom pregnant. When he discovered this he was angry, and it got worse when he discovered that your mom wasn't pregnant with just one child. He told his friend, a rich biologist who had a lab and had been experimenting on enhancing the abilities of rats and had emerged successful on almost all his experiment and now needed a human. He offered to fund your fathers researches and get him a lab for his experiments, as well as new apartment so many other things in exchange for your pregnant mother as his test subject.", he explained, "gosh! How could one be that cruel", Mrs Patrick exclaimed.
"Unfortunately, your dad agreed seemingly having no choice, he knew that if he didn't you guys would die eventually cause he had no money, so he agreed, but with a condition, that he was going to take one of you, and the agreement was sealed. After so many experiment had been conducted, it was time for delivery, your mother underwent one of the best care any delivering woman has ever been through, because at this time the government was now involved in the experiment. The delivery was successful, and as planned your dad came for his child and wife, and his friend refused, saying that the experiment didn't go as planned, that the kids born were having different abilities instead of same ability in one as it was in the single rat. Your father refused to listen, still demanding for a child, saying that, that was'nt part of the agreement he made with them. Admist the arguement some government soldiers came in to scare him, their plan worked and he left the children and requested for his wife, and to worsen the case they told him that your mom had died, he screamed in anger and pain, he gained the fundings he needed, the money was no longer a problem but he lost his beloved wife and kids", he said as Mrs Patrick wept.
Mrs Patrick, a woman who is easily moved emotionally, like her b__bs, she has a really big heart.
I continued staring at the TV as Mr Patrick continued his narration, "That was when he met me, then I was working as a therapist, he narrated his story to me and since I had lost the only child I had , I could relate to his pain, so I dug dipper into his situation and decided to involve the church. When i told your father, whom at this time had been shattered completely, he said nothing, little did I know he had a plan to burn down the facility, luckily for you guys the church had planned a meeting on that same day, so they were present during the burn down, and were able to rescue you guys, unfortunately your father and so many others, church, scientist and government officials died in the facility. The church was able to get a hold of you guys and during the government investigation they discovered that a child was saved by the church and requested for that one, their suspects was fully backed with witnesses, putting the church in a too tight position to hide you guys but comply, and as requested, one was brought for them. The church was charged for stealing a government property and had to pay greatly for it. The amount they paid greatly affected the church, and for that reason the children in the orphanage home suffered it, they feared that if the government found you the church wouldn't go into debts and would result in a lot of homeless children. For this reason I became more frequent in attending secret church meetings so I see the direction the case was heading, and when it finally played to my direction, I consulted my darling wife", he explained as Mrs Patrick cried some more.
"I asked her if we could adopt a child, and like I told you before, she said no claiming that I had lost faith in God", he explained, "no!!!", she yelled, "Patrick!! No!! You didn't explain all of this to me!", she said crying louder.
Luckily for me, I could multi task, so while she cried and lamented, simultaneously I listened to Mr Patrick who couldn't stop talking because no one had pressed a pause or stop on the remote control and so went on, "I understand her stand point and did not argue or bother to explain to her, I went back to the church and gave them my reply, and after a lot of deliberation, they decided to give him back to the government, when one of the mothers stood up for him, saying she wouldn't let him be taken away and that she and the rest sister would hide him. She went further to say that if he was found, she would take full blame for his habour; after hearing this, the church decided to hide you under the care of mother Vanessa, knowing fully well that even though she had claimed to take the blame, if you were found in the church, they would still be in big trouble. That was how it happened, you grew up in the church and had no visitors nor adopters, and when your abilities had become known, you were taking away from the rest children because of the frequent nose bleeds and regular illnesses. The church could not risk taking you to a hospital so you won't be discovered, and so you were treated indoors, this greatly affected your health and when a more advanced nurse joined the sisters, she foretold....", he said and paused, "...In as much as I know that you must have heard this before, I still find it hard to tell you.....she foretold your death. When you turned 15, mother Vanessa pleaded with all in the meeting that you at least spend some time with a real family, so they chose at random the family you would stay with, and I carefuly obsereved as you moved from family to family, experiencing rejection at such a young age, I was sincerely hurt by this", he added as he sobbed gently, "I am so sorry", Mrs Patrick said as she came to sit next to me putting a arm around my shoulder.
"I told myself that I will convince the next family that adopts you to send you to my school, and when I found that Mr Vixus volunteered to take you in, I was so happy.
Carl Vixus, an old friend of mine, a very good man indeed, one who indulges in lots of charity work for the church.
I was able to convince him to send to our school, not after am king some preparations though. And when you arrived I was overwhelmed with joy", he said and turned around, "honey I am home!", Mrs Patrick said as she walked in.
On seeing herself and her late husband on TV she wept on my shoulders as I continued watching not wanting to miss any detail, "what are you doing?", she asked after pecking, "just shooting a video", he replied, "okay dear, have you eaten?", she asked, "no I haven't sweetie", he replied, "alright, let me go cook us something", she said and walked away, "Katy dear, I love you so much", he said shedding tears as Mrs Patrick cried bitterly, "I love you too", she cried, "Caleb, you may not understand love, but when you do you'll understand the tears in my eyes, I want to spend rest of the few time I have with the love of my life", he said as he stood up, "Caleb, please be careful with everyone, deny your ability as much times as you can, because if the government should find out about you, not only will they use you as a lab rat but the orphans will be homeless as well, your abilities will grow with time; I have to go, I really wish I could stay longer with you, oh and Caleb, could you do me a favour and look after Katy for me, she gets really emotional, this and many more cute things I love about her, I love you Katy!I believe this explains why I acted the way I did after shooting the video", he said smiling as he turned off the video.
Finally, answers to a few question disturbing Caleb's mind, what next? How do I hide my abilities from people when even my skin is an ability?
